Normani to perform at World Pride next week 🌈
Everyone experiences their first #aidslifecycle differently; I got to experience it virtually from home and to be honest, I was devastated that I wasn't going to be able to ride from SF to LA. All the training miles and events leading up to the 7-day journey was put on hold due to the pandemic. Myself, my husband, and my Cyclepaths teammates were in tears the day we found out the ride was canceled. Little did I know, ALC isn't just about riding a bike, it's about raising awareness, sharing stories, making memories, and raising money for charity along the way. I didn't grow up during the AIDS crisis, yet it is still an issue today. I've been fortunate to have resources that others did not. I ride to end the stigma and to carry on the torch that others have carried before me to be able to live my authentic self as a member of the LGBT+ community. Thank you, and thank you to those who we have lost along the way. I hope I can make my community proud. With my @cheerlosangeles family, we've cheered on the riders as they finished the ride in LA, and this time, I was going to be on the opposite end and that made me nervous. Nervous because I didn't know what to expect as this journey has pushed me outside of my comfort zone. From riding 30+ plus miles on the weekends, dressing up in drag, and experiencing my first fall climbing up a hill. Along the route, I learned what I am capable of, met amazing people, was given new and exciting opportunities. Thank you to my family and friends who attended our silly fundraising events. Thank you to my teammates and my husband for supporting me throughout this journey. Thank you to those who have donated, assisting Marcelino and me to raise a cumulative amount of $10K for the LGBT Center and SF Foundation, @hbo for their $500 match donation, and letting me be a part of their #HumanbyOrientation campaign. Thank you to the ALC staff for always being there when I needed them and Bike Angels for loaning me a bicycle to use throughout the year. Although this wasn't how I planned to finish my first ALC ride, I still enjoyed the journey. Every day this week, I heard stories, experience the love bubble, and ride in 2021. Thank you @hbo and their #HumanByOrientation initiative for allowing me to be apart of #RedDressDay by supplying me with some cool red themed outfits #GiftByHBO. Red Dress Day has been a tradition since the early days of @aidslifecycle; the idea was that if everyone dressed in red on Day 5, the riders would look like a giant red ribbon #AIDSLifeCycle #My545 . . . . . . . . . . . #CheerLA #Cyclepaths #CyclingTeam #TeamValencap #CheerLosAngeles #PCArocks #PCApridetour #LoveIsLove #LAPride #LoveWins #Pride2020 #BearLife #Husbands #Husbears #AIDSLifeCycle2020 #Ride545 #Cyclist #EndStigma #BodyPositive #CyclingPhotos #CyclepathsALC #AIDSLifeCycle2021 (at Quarantine Café) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBB0A2YjDzq/?igshid=1m0p98gqvlst9
So the familia at @HboLatino asked me “What does being #SoyYo Mean to You?” And of course I was over the top, BUT I’ll never apologize for it or live down what I stand for and believe in! I’ll forever be authentic to myself and the people I love! ...that’s all of you! Let’s continue to make a difference for the youth and the generations to come! #HBOLatino #humanbyorientation #LocoNinja #soyyohbolatino (at Manhattan Penthouse) https://www.instagram.com/p/B37YtjUBjWW/?igshid=1t2yl5rfomtsa
Some 📷stills and videos📹 from the #humanbyorientation video installation I did for #sxsw 💘 I wanted to explore the possibility of seeing more unconventional and non comforting people on TV! The live stream camera was 🦠glitches through a synth, sometimes doing the unconventional can give you beautiful results! 💌 thanks to everyone who made it out 📲 more photos available on my website.
