Human conflict
I think that the root of conflict is present in our human nature. We are all born in different environments and have different cultures. This means we do not share the same beliefs as each other. There is always the mentality that, “I am right, and you are wrong.” Especially during this Covid-19 pandemic, where people are agitated and on edge all the time. However, using this pandemic crisis as justification for acts of violence is unacceptable. The difference in beliefs often keeps people from cooperating. This can be seen in the United States, whereas there is a movement of “Anti-maskers” who campaign against wearing masks amid a global pandemic. This group of people does not cooperate with the suggested health guidelines because they do not believe in masks combined with how democracy is valued in America. I do think of the saying, “To each our own.” When discussing the beliefs and opinions of others. However, I find that I am only obliged to respect it to a certain degree. Indeed, If an opinion violates the human rights of others or is backed by illogical and unethical reasons, then I am not morally obliged to respect their outlook. I still do think that a level of compromise should be reached. However, if one cannot find a middle ground, then simply dissociating with someone should be the way to go. On the other hand, topics such as racism and vaccinating should not even be a debate already. Discrimination violates the basics of human rights, and anti-vaxxers are just simply throwing science out the window.
