I’ve been meaning to shoutout my friend Michael Cohen lately. He’s the huge hearted dude who invited me to Cuba a couple of years ago, to paint a mural at a @amigoskatecuba DIY skatepark, teach a painting workshop for skater kids and also donate some boards. That mission will be shown in his upcoming documentary @humanitystoked about skateboarders who want to make the world a better place. There are endless big names in that movie (which hopefully makes it on Netflix later this year) and it’s an honour to be included, as it was such a fun trip (check out my “Artventures” review on my YouTube channel too). Anyways, Micheal, who is a New Yorker, just told me his father Charlie has contracted Coronavirus, and is in critical condition... If you pray, please keep these lovely people as part of that. It is sad when good people die, I could not imagine having my father taken away from me and I wish the Cohen family strength in this process, along the thousands of people on this planet affected by the virus. For the rest of us, complaining about being bored at home for longer than we prefer, let’s be reminded of the larger picture. Of course we would all prefer to go back to our lives, enjoy the beautiful spring outdoors, see our friends, do our sports, and make a living again, etc. But if we do these things out of some selfish wim, we could get the virus ourselves and then pass it along to others who could potentially die. All that family pain is not worth our temporary selfish enjoyment, so please just stay home, stay busy in some indoor passion and let’s allow the curve to soften. In Peru the president called in Martial Law as soon as we had our first cases. All flights cancelled, all events halted, most businesses shut down and if anybody goes outside you get a huge fine or go to jail for 6 months (after the quarantine). All this sounds harsh, but it’s actually working, cause after 2 weeks of this our numbers are still under 1000 and not expanding exponentially. Hopefully we can squash this bug soon enough. So if you’re not in a country without strict measures, let’s be compassionate and disciplined ourselves, we can do it!! #stayhome #humanitystoked https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Z2OCznpGA/?igshid=l4d4r4ui05bj
