The M1 #metro line in #Budapest is the oldest #underground #railway on mainland #Europe. It is also the third oldest in the world with the first being in London and the second in Istanbul. Built from 1894 to 1896, it was listed as a #UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. Here is a man waiting on the bench at the #Opera stop, under #Andrassy Street.
