hang on—the potters were like an old rich family and while they didn’t share a lot of behaviors with the blacks, I Know they got portraits done for everyone.

why didn’t someone just give harry a portrait of his dad? and maybe his mom if they got one done after their wedding? and his grandparents?

like i get that he got vaguely obsessed with the mirror of erised, but that’s only because he didn’t have any other connection to his parents. if he had portraits of his family to talk to, he would have solved literally all of his problems by third year and simultaneously have a sense of self-worth.
