“ that’s just what liars tell themselves to make what they do feel better, clint. ”
she turns away from the window she had been looking out of, back to the mirror, where she begins collecting a wealth of black hair into a braid. her eyes carefully train on her hair, unwilling to look herself in the face when she’s talking about LIARS. ( her eyes are too similar to her mother’s to be able to do that. )
“ i would know. ”
reasons why Rod doesn’t like the Wardens
blood cult
don’t tell you it’s a blood cult until too late to back out
no cool swords
darkspawn blood tastes gross
weird dreams until you die due to the blood
argument over protect the people vs kill the monsters
no cool mounts (most of the time)
first warden ( @humcniisms ) throws stationary out the window at him for “making a spectacle” and “ruining the image of the order” for going around practically naked even though it is VERY HOT
uniform is itchy
blood cult pt. 2: still mad about this
THE LOOK OF HORROR. was clear on her face. the betrayal came next. clint barton had done the unthinkable. he had stolen some of her expensive (ridiculously expensive) coffee. it was the last batch she had --- because being a responsible adult, meant no help from her father, and she could no longer afford decently expensive coffee. so it hurt even more. ❛ but ---- but that’s mine? this is actual crime. this is theft of property! ❜ kate - chill. no. you’ve done the same ... MULTIPLE times (it just wasn’t as expensive per cup).

it took the inquisitor a few moments to fully understand what had occurred-- likely due to the fact she was fairly EXHAUSTED after such a strenuous battle against horde after horde of darkspawn-- but she couldn’t help but feel grateful he was able to think faster. even if she could have likely handled it on her own had she been AWARE enough.
‘i... i am very glad to know that sword isn’t just for DECORATION.’ a bit out of breath, ari glanced down at his hand on her shoulder and straightened.

the commander offers her NOTHING beyond the same politely neutral expression he’s given the last DOZEN nobles to approach him, light indifference staining the edges of his voice even while hazel eyes fall to her own; WARY as a SOLDIER, a leader of men, though he maintains the careful FACADE that works well among these types, keeps disdain for the courts hidden away.
❛ I will keep it in mind, my lady. ❜ truthfully, her words are DISCARDED the moment he hears them, but a note is made about her dress, her manner, her WILLINGNESS to offer unsolicited advice to a stranger of both her person and the court she’s captured in—the FIRST, he’s aware. most others have simply asked him questions he would RATHER NOT answer, pried stories from him. though different is HARDLY better here.
It’s a good enough facade for a Fereldan, but she could see how carefully he was sizing her up. “No you won’t,” she counters, pleasantly and without a touch of offence. He was good at this game, but not good enough. Though -- perhaps it was unfair. She’d been trained to poke holes in every single lie, to find the weakness in every piece of armor. Not every Orlesian cared enough to say the same.
“That’s exactly what one says when they’ve already forgotten what their companion said. Half the people here know it already, I’m afraid.” Not necessarily, but they might hold him to higher standards than Ruby did, expecting him to keep his word when he said he’d keep it in mind. “The sharper aristocrats will see through you in an instant, Sir, and while I’m sure I may appear a snake in the grass, I’ve no wish to see your words used against you while you’re here.”
