Humiliationship
My Angel
An angel was almost once mine—
my angel,
the first to see me
was the first to flee.
He held me gently while I wept.
Though he was never truly beside me,
his hands searched the knotted depths of my chest,
chaste and careful—
like a quiet prayer finally heard.
My angel was also her angel—
an angel of innocence,
with eyes that could read a room,
read a soul,
without her ever having to ask.
My angel had golden eyes,
wide and wandering through the almost-forgotten rooms
of a memory he and I thought
was thrown away long ago.
My angel was marked by two small stars-
one glimmering beside his left eye,
another resting at the hollow of his neck-
as if heaven itself
had signed its name upon him.
My angel has chosen another now,
yet his gaze lingers
like the light left in a church’s stained glass
long after the sun has moved on.
And perhaps I was never meant
to stand ghostlike beside him
at the almost-altar.
Perhaps I was only the unspoken verse,
the prayer murmured softly
between his tortured gaze and his heart when my gaze coincidentally meet his in sudden times.
She wears the halo proudly,
as she now openly owns it,
she is bathed in the clean warm light of morning,
while I remain in the quiet pews behind- at the almost heaven,
in a confession no priest was meant to hear,
buried within my own mind.
For angels were never meant to belong
to anyone.
They pass through mortal lives
like brief visitations of personal grace.
And though the angel chose her heaven,
I sometimes wonder,
when the chapel grows silent
and the candles burn low—
if the two small stars upon his skin
still remember the silent nights
they shone next to my own without any other stars in the obsidian blue sky.
situationship will be the death of me . what do u mean im out here humiliating myself over a man.
