GOOPY SYLVIE.... but genuine question, how WOULD someone go about genuinely injuring them? since it seems that a majority of any attacks don't seem to really do anything 🤔
ah god, it's definitely not an easy task cause their regen is dumb strong since it can reform them even from a sliver of their body ... also hard to pinpoint exact ones bc we know so little about elemental creatures, but anything abyss tainted for sure will injure them, although usually not permanently as their body will eventually filter it out (with pains and fevers and nausea, so it’s still painful and unpleasant). in massive amounts though, it can incapacitate them and potentially kill them if it consumes them and their essence faster than they can recover—if not just cause irreversible damage.
exhausting their regen is also an option and is the most viable one to go for (without abyss shenanigans) even if it will take a while; although it is strong, they cannot consistently heal over and over again over an extended period of time especially if it’s having to rebuild entire limbs; weaken it enough and use any ‘divine’ or strong elemental weapon, and it will harm them permanently. continue to do so, and they will be able to be killed as their regeneration will eventually give up alongside their energy reserves.
it’s why they have their torso scar because their first ‘death’ was the first time their regen came in to that degree, and because it was so slow, it didn’t heal the area properly where they were sliced in half and left their form permanently fucked up there.
in addition, any source of damage that is consistent (like dunking them completely in lava) will also destroy their body, but they must be kept in it long enough to exhaust their regeneration speed, or destroy their entire body fast enough to where they can’t even recover in time.
(they do have a lifeline in a 'gnosis' they offered to zhongli made of their own essence, so if they die in any form, they can revive from that small piece even if the recovery may take years, but that’s in part unknown even to them)
otherwise they can be incapacitated temporarily since they don’t recover quickly, limbs take days to grow back if not up to a week or longer, pending on their state, and recovering their entire body (from something like being crushed and broken) may take months, if not up to a year. I HOPE THAT GIVES SOME IDEA ... ALTHOUGH IT’S A VERY STRONG REGEN, IT BITES THEM IN THE ASS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT
