27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?

The way Curtis holds Doe's face in his big, calloused hands, like she's the most precious treasure in the world. His eyes so full of emotion as he holds her gaze, before he closes his eyes with a nearly broken sigh and leans his forehead against hers.

Doe shows her love in the way she cares for him, even for the smallest cuts. Whenever Curtis goes hunting, she stays up late after dealing with all the work around the cabin and in the village, to prepare fresh medicine and ointments just in case they're needed.

47. Do they sleep beside each other? Why or why not?

Always! Well, when Curtis is home for the night that is and not out on a hunting trip. Some married couples keep separate beds in their cabins, but Curtis and Doe don't. There is another bed in the small space of their housing, but it will be perfect for when the baby is born. Doe likes the feel of Curtis' warm, strong body beside her and to feel him squeeze her in his sleep (sometimes it's his hand on her hip, sometimes wrapped around her middle, other times he's cupping her breast).

What happens next after the night of the hunt? Is there more to it the morning/days after?

I vaguely talked about their future here. But as for the very next morning? After taking Doe once again as the early morning sun filters through the branches, they walk back into the village. Everyone's asleep, but one of the elders who only nods at them politely and goes into the woods to see the proof of their coupling. Curtis takes you to his cottage, where you'll be living together from now on. A bit later, he'll help you carry all of your belongings to your new home. The next days are going to be a lot of settling in, learning each other's daily rituals, working together around the cottage and definitely being taken on every possible surface.

I was thinking more about The Sacred Hunt, and sorry in advance if your world building did not go this far but I was wondering if Curtis had any say in who would be in his bride pool? Was that totally the elder's decision or did he nudge them in any particular way? I'm just wondering how the potential brides are picked, since there's rules for Curtis's title.

Hunter Curtis didn't interfere with the choosing of brides, since he didn't assume he'd get the title. It's at the ceremony that night that The Hunter is named, so everyone awaits that news, along with the hunters aspiring for the title. The women are chosen by the Elders as well, as the most valuable/worthy of the union. First of all being of age. Then their traits and skills are taken into consideration, assessing if they'd be a good match with the hunter, as well if they'd provide for the community in return for being granted such honor.

Then The Hunter gets to pick from the offered brides. So while Curtis had no say in which women were picked as offering, he was the one making the decision about who will he pick out of the 10 potential brides.

He didn't have some big crush on the Reader before, but he noticed her before (because he's very observant and because she drew his attention too). So when he saw her lined with other women, he knew instantly it would be her. If she refused to be a bride, or if she wasn't chosen by the Elders for the role, Curtis would pick someone else, but also after his own thorough assessment. Curtis is traditional, he respects laws of the nature and the laws of your people, so he'd follow with what's expected of him and pick a wife whom he'd adore and respect and grew to love.
