"Oh? You want DEF? Okay, have some DEF"
From Sylus's 160 to 170, I cleared the stages on auto and now I'm dealing with trying to clear this absolutely awful 170 stage. I really don't get what the battle devs were thinking when they designed these orbits tbh
I know they wanted to slow down people's progress but putting huge power checks between paperthin enemies isn't how games work like... at all
Shoutout to release year players who have way too many SR crystal boxes that we'll never be able to get rid of
Two years later, we still don't have a way to break these big crystals into smaller crystals, which we need a disgustingly unbalanced amount of
I'm gonna need Sylus to get a blue card between now and when I reach 180
That missing blue card should've been his boxing card, but at the time, I was low on diamonds
And I was also tsun at him at the time
Objectively, I honestly do think that papergames did not beta test the battle system whatsoever
None of the devs ever decided they should test how the orbits increase in difficulty when you don't have all cards ranked and all cores optimized
What pisses me off the most is that the stages leading up to and following the power checks are really absolutely no challenge whatsoever
You've got like 3 or 4 stages of cutting through paper, and then suddenly you're being told you climb Mt Everest
These orbits would be more fun and satisfying if there was a gradual increase in difficulty and not... whatever the fuck this is
With the way the orbits set up, you're not allowed to see how far you've come. You only get to see the next giant wall ahead
Who thought this was a good idea?
I finally beat Sylus's 160
Holy shit, 0/10 do not recommend. This battle system is disgustingly unbalanced. In my entire life of gaming, I've never played a game with worse balance in stage difficulty increases than LADS
Main tip for this stage is to keep close to it. You need all the counter damage you can get. While Sylus is countering, keep your attack tempo going. You may not see your MC attacking, but she is still attacking. As long as the buttons are still on the screen, keep hitting them
I probably took this team from around 2k DEF to 4607 DEF. Absolutely do not sacrifice your crit rate for more defense. You need that crit rate to get you through this
The solars had one DEF and one oath strength. The lunars all had crit rate. All had DEF substats, ideally both
jfc what a nightmare
If this still isn't enough DEF and overall stats for Archfiend in 160, I'm going to unhinge my jaws and eat him whole
Sylus's 160 orbit just reminds me how badly this battle system is balanced. Instead of a gradual increase in difficulty, there are huge power check gates and then weak shit for the next five stages
I've heard papergames started to de-emphasize the battle system because no one likes it and I'm just like
WOW I WONDER WHY
This shit's as balanced as my diet while I'm on my period
