OKay I GOTTA SALT HARD ON THIS ONE.
Last week, someone wanted to commission me for a talksprite set, mix and match, fully shaded. When I told them the price was 45 USD
They told me it was steep for the quality of my art.
Needless to say, I was shook. I didn’t even bother to explain that at 45 USD, I still make less than 8 dollars an hour because I am a slow artist.
I know my weaknesses and I’m working on them. I have a commission sheet with all my prices on it. It’s not like they didn’t know. At this point, I simply told them they were free to take their business elsewhere since they thought my business was too expensive for them.
I blocked them for a few hours and unblocked them later when I calmed down.
IF YOU WANT TO COMMISSION AN ARTIST, READ THEIR COMMISSION PAGE. ACCEPT THE PRICES. PRICES ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE AND I ASSURE YOU THAT TUMBLR ARTISTS ALREADY UNDERPAY THEMSELVES HALF THE TIME.
iF YOU CAN’T AFFORD A COMMISSION from someone, don’t buy it. Don’t tell them their prices are too expensive for the quality of their art. They are probably WELL AWARE of their flaws but that’s the price they put on their hours of work.
Jesus christ I can’t believe I have to say that.
