Alligator Season starts August 15th

Alligator seasons starts next month/mid month. This is a limited quota hunt in Florida awarded by special permit that had to be applied for months ago. While I didn’t get picked for a permit in the lottery this year two of my friends did and I can hunt with them on an agent license and harvest one of the two tags given to the hunter awarded the permit. Stay tuned for when the hunting begins as I will be posting photos, stories, techniques and current conditions.

Alligator Hunt

I wish I could report that we harvested an alligator Friday night but we didn't. We came real close though. We had one eat the bait right after 5:00 pm, the start time. We reeled down on it and were able to get two treble hooks into it but it eventually got off before we could harpoon it. We got a second gator to eat but it got off the bait and right after that it started to rain and lightening so we headed for the ramp. We had a grand time and learned few things. The plan is to go again during the make up period. I'll keep you posted.
