@huntressthewizard said: ‘ yeah, you technically didn’t have to do that, but thanks i guess. ’
She saves the condescending comments for later reflection, letting the bile sit on her tongue. Even with how she breathes, open mouthed and panting, she somehow manages to keep those words from falling out.
The forest is teeming with life, so alive that the buzzing of scents and sounds makes the shifter dizzy. Hunters didn’t often leave traps, but one apparently had. Now she was dealing with making sure this stranger avoided any suspicious leaf piles.
They had just missed a spike pit. Robin needed to march down to the city, it seemed, to tell off whoever put such a dangerous trap here...
“You’re welcome, I guess.” The wolf sniffs. “Maybe you should head back the way you came. It’s probably less trap infested that way.”
@huntressthewizard, apropos of nothing, said: "I would not take the woman's ravings to heart. Gumbald was trying to kill you and he needed to go down."
“ oh - huntress wizard. ” fern seemed a bit dazed, addressing his friend like this. (well, he hopes they’re friends anyways.) “ so you found out about all that too, huh? figures... ”
a lot of emotions bubble just below the surface. keeping the lid on helps, but droplets - steam - fern can see both, mere hints of feeling as they are.
he takes a breath. “ i guess you’re right. s - ” stop apologizing. “ - uh, thanks. for saying that. ”
CYRENE
🍃🏹➳ “Ah, of course, almost forgot,” she paused a moment, and, reaching into her quiver, extracted an arrow, the shaft pitch black, and the head a spiraling point; twisted, and pinkish-purple in colour. It didn’t take one with magic eyes to see that this arrow wasn’t enchanted in the same sense that fire or ice arrows were… there was something otherworldly about it.
“My master helped make these to dispel threats,” she spoke. “They’ll obliterate any opponent, but only if the target cannot see the archer or the arrow coming, and you must pierce their weak point. I usually use these on Lynels, but for today, I will use it to dispatch the Lizalfos leader.” She resisted the urge to give a sales pitch for the arrows– she could sell her foreign items to the mercenary later, when it was all said and done.
“Once its been dealt with, I imagine the remaining lizalfos will search the area in panic. That is when you drop down and start slaughtering them. I will be above in this large tree, here, and provide aerial support.”
Her brow furrowed, staring at the map on the floor for a moment. While she hadn’t been in Hyrule for long, she knew enough about the rumors of the Blood Moon. Defeating these monsters would not do anything if they were to simply return the next time the evil lunar cycle simply resurrected them.
“Once we’ve taken care of them all, I would ask you of another thing… we need to purify this area, heal it, if you will.” She fished out a small yellow bone flute from her satchel.
“Do you know how to play any instruments?” She asked him.
Link stepped back with a grimace over the power of one arrow. Those things can take out a Lynel in one hit? His mind jumped to imagine something like that getting into the wrong hands, reversed to the grasp of a Lynel’s dead-eye aim. He’d hoped it wouldn’t be so lethal on would-be heroes. Or the average Hylian he had to save.
Once again, the identity of this ‘Master’ had to be put aside but with much more growing unease. He tilted his head as the question of music came out of nowhere. Pausing to consider if he’d ever had musical talent in the past, though from the few scant fragments of memory he seemed kind of bland. Dedicated to only the sword and nothing more. Nothing he felt particular joy in.
Link shook his head to her on an impulse, having to admit he wasn’t exactly a bard like Kass. Though he’d on occasion sung the songs the Rito taught to commit them to memory, he never thought himself to be any good thus he kept that to himself.
“I don’t re- um,” His lips sealed before the word fully left his mouth. He then eyed the little flute and shrugged, admitting with a forced smile. “... I can whistle?” // @huntressthewizard
☙ ✿ ❧ “ I know, I made them myself, thank you for noticing~ ”
The rito had just finished setting up her temporary trading spot near the stables, dusting off her wings as she turned to the traveler. Colorful fabrics and finished clothing items were on display, each with a certain energy about them, a hint to the kind of protection they could provide.

“ You have to aim higher. Striking a Hinox’s big toe will do you little good in combat. ” Under careful scrutiny, he adjusted her bow’s position to the proper angle. ” You always aim for the eye. Do NOT hesitate when drawing your bow either. Should you stumble upon a more formidable foe, hesitation could tip the fight in the enemies favor. One last thing, if you ever come across a lynel, just run. ”
