look I understand the urge to get all "Ward has two hands!" but I need you to understand this wouldn't work. polyamory will not fix them. there is no situation in which Tisala wants Oreg anywhere near her bed or in which Oreg is prepared to share.

i have a type
honestly, Oreg is the Guy Who's A Dog of all time and I love him for that. dangerous as hell? check. shown compassion one (1) time and turned that into undying loyalty? check. "this person matters and everyone else can go hang"? check. fight response forced into freeze response when the threat is an authority? check. honestly kind of a dick? check.
Dragon Blood gets into this a bit more and I love it. the way Tisala and Ward have complete opposite opinions of Oreg—
Ward: you're very powerful and very damaged, which means I need to protect you even though you think you're protecting me
Tisala: you're very powerful and very damaged, which makes you unpredictable and genuinely dangerous
and they're both justified!
particularly fond of that one scene where Tisala pulls Oreg aside and goes I need you to talk to my friend but you're both wound tight as wires right now and for some reason your only functional coping mechanism is being a fucking stirrer, and if you mess with him he'll go for you and if it comes to a fight you will kill him, so I'm going to nip that in the bud right now, BEHAVE.

it would be pretty fun if this got to as many people as possible who haven't a clue about hurog
covers below cut as well:
look I know I made a post detailing the badassitude of the Danish covers for the Hurog duology already but I need everybody to stop and reflect on the French covers as well
like what the fuck. these are brilliant why are the English covers just Some Guy Standing There
have you read Dragon Bones, by Patricia Briggs (2002)?

just found out about the Danish covers for the Hurog books, and hot damn
those are so much cooler than any of the English covers. the purple! the gold! the title font! the translucent streaks! the eyes! the lighting on the gold dragon! so that's what Hurog blue looks like!
For WIP Wednesday!
untitled Hurog fic about Oreg's Loyalty Thing
thank you! this piece is giving me so much trouble, I swear...
There isn't much Ward can say, even if he could force the words past his stumbling tongue. He watches as Oreg moves away, footsteps as sure on the slick stones as on a carpet, more a part of this new keep than even Ward can be. He supposes it's habit, more than anything. He wonders if Oreg realises what he is offering.
