Taako flops on the couch like a sack of rotten potatoes and doesn’t budge an inch. A miserable noise starts leaking out of him, muffled by the couch blanket in volume but not despair. Maybe if he moans long enough it’ll all be let out of him and he’ll feel better, but as it stands, his feet hurt and his head hurts and his knees hurt and his soul feels abysmal, like a wet paper bag full of bees. He kicks his shoes off and hears the satisfying clunk of them disappearing forever in the mess of their not-so-recently-cleaned living room.
“Fuck!” he articulates this time, not moving enough to be heard by anyone but the couch.
There’s the ripping sound of a hole being torn in the fabric of the planes, and in tromps Kravitz, heavy-footed and slow.
“I can’t believe you’re already on the couch,” he says, by way of greeting. “How am I supposed to lay down and let my problems leak out of me?”
Taako gives it a moment, then rolls over to see him. He puts a hand to his forehead like a maiden with the vapors and sighs.
“I got here first, so it’s mine.”
Kravitz unties his shoes and leaves them on the shoe rack by the door, then gently folds his suit jacket and lays it down. And then he walks over and lays on top of Taako.
Taako yelps and giggles in surprise, heavy man blanket, and a grin splits Kravitz’s tired face in two. He props himself up with his elbows and looks down at his man with fatalistic fondness.
“Well shit, Krav, I missed you too.”
“I can relate. Shall I fix it?”
“How could you possibly fix it now?”
“Like this.” And Kravitz leans down and kisses Taako, softly at first, and then warmer and fonder and more enthusiastic, pulling the breath and the misery right out of him. He shifts his body so his full weight isn’t on Taako, and he rests his head on Taako’s shoulder. His legs stick comically off the edge of the couch.
“I don’t know. Let’s try it again.”
