Guess whose job just started raising Lake Sturgeon (Huso fulvescens)! These little dudes were spawned from one of the first natural spawning runs detected in Missouri for years, and are just starting to transition to a diet of bloodworms! (They scarfed down everything we gave them in no time flat, less than 30 minutes after a 400-mile drive)

That’s right! The Superior Sturgeon is BACK, BABY!!!

PS: @sturgeonposting , these things and shortnose sturgeon were added to the Huso genus along with Beluga! 🤯

Sometime this year (2025) a scientific consensus seems to have been reached that the previously-obsolete genus of Sinosturio be used as legitimate classification once again. 

Reclassifications from Wikipedia:

The reclassification of kaluga (previously Huso dauricus) surprised me most of all as it leaves beluga (Huso huso) as the only member of genus Huso. I wonder if beluga will eventually be reclassed with Acipenser and genus Huso will become obsolete. [edit - there are actually a lot of husos now, check reblogs :)]

Random language things

I was writing a random thing about how much I hate travelling in one of my conlangs. One of the sentences was “Travelling is just so chaotic”. When translated that is “It pepe”. I was laughing to way too long about my language memeing me.
