Dear Santa - Bucky Barnes
Dear Santa,
To be honest, this is fucking bullshit. Normally I won’t cuss to a jolly old man, but this is a dumbass creative writing assignment and you aren’t real. And normally I won’t cuss in a homework assignment, but this very train-of-thought, which is something I learned about in class so it’s fine. I mean doing this is still completely ridiculous, I’m literally 90 years old. Even if I wasn’t, I’d be 25, and who makes anyone older than 12 write a letter to Santa? Anyways I should actually “tell” you what I want for Christmas. I guess I’d want my memories back... Maybe just the good ones. That would be nice. I mean if I got all my memories back, it would help SHIELD out and it would probably make them trust me more... So maybe all my memories back? And being able to distinguish real memories from fake memories would be nice too. Or just get rid of the fake memories.... Anyways if you could work your magic, or you know be real, any of those things would be great. Thanks.
Sincerely yours,
James Buchanan Barnes

Wen to Hauser Wirth and Schimmel over spring break. Did not take a selfie but do plan on going back so will take one then. Really enjoyed the space and loved the Ruth Asawa collection they had.
Ruth Awasa’s large scale metal-crochet curvy forms were beautiful. They suspended from the ceiling and hung to just above the ground. They were about fifteen to twenty feet tall and there were about 10 of them on display. Though they looked seemingly simple and extremely refined. There were smaller forms within the larger forms creating an interesting layering affect that really gave the whole piece a whole other element and created a beautiful illusion. These forms casted beautiful shadows on the floor giving the forms a whole other dimension. Louise Bourgeois’ work also really caught my eye. My first impression of Louise Bourgeois’ pieces were that they were beautiful, large, industrious, and bold. There were 6 of them displayed on one long wall which really made the body of work very powerful. The materials used was canvas from military bags, iron rods and metal wire to stitch the fabric together. My impression was that they were about the war and it was to show the emotional damage caused from WWII. However once I read the artist statement which said (in a nutshell) the pieces were about the disconnect of the younger generation of the time with their understanding of “real life” I did not feel as captivated by them anymore. However, they were still very bold and beautiful. The last room I went into displayed many working contemporary artists who were commissioned to make pieces for the gallery. Jessica Stockholder, Sonia Gomez, Abigail DeVille, Karla Black, Phyllida Barlow, Rachel Khedoori were all on display in this vary industrious warehouse-like space. I feel as though the artwork that was displayed in this space was all very interesting and captivating but it was almost too much going on in one room. There was misshaped furniture to the right as you walk in and then you are greeted by a large installation piece with giant fabric pom poms suspended from a giant wooden support-type sculptural form. Then as you move into the space you are hit with an overwhelming amount of art by different artists all displayed very closely to each other. This, unfortunately, made it difficult for me to really enjoy and engage with each individual piece as much as I would have liked. Overall Hauser Wirth and Schimmel was a beautiful open gallery space.

I still have my whole life ahead of me but even though I can say that I have passed through allot of situations and many times I have felt very alone and as if the weight of the whole world has fallen upon my shoulders. The truth is life is difficult and there is always a moment when you just cannot take it, when you feel as if you are going to break. We live in a world where we cannot trust anyone, not even our own shadow. At times it feels as if people are just looking for excuses to hurt us.
I love this song, fly by nicki minaj and rihanna, because in those moments when I feel I cannot take it I listen to it and I remember why I am here, in this world. People may try to break me but they will never take away what is mine. I will never give them the satisfaction of winning. I have many dreams and goals in my life and no one is going to stand in the way of them. People will always try to get you down but we have a purpose in this world. If a hundred times we fall a hundred times more we shall get up. When we feel it is too hard to get up that is the time when we have to be strong and stand up with our heads held high.
Throughout the course of our lives we pass and will pass through numerous situations, some good and some bad but the truth of the matter is that they all have a purpose in our lives; even if in that moment we cannot see it. Each and every one of those situations makes us stronger. They are the little pieces that come together to form the whole picture.
