Thinking how their relation would work(based on history). Disclaimer: this was not written in detail, basically I write what I can remember.
-After Indonesia proclaimed his independence in August 17 1945, he still needed to find friends (recognition) from other countries. It wasn't hard to befriends with Asian and African countries, his first friend was Greece and followed by Turkey, but he also needed recognition of independence from Netherlands so he could give him sovereignty, but he wouldn't. And Netherlands got lot of backups from his west bloc friends, so it was hard.
-Because it was hard, it's more logical for him to look for help from the opposite bloc. Indeed, he got the support from Russia. It was in Prague when they decided to work together, but it was a secret, because Indonesia was in a treaty with Netherlands and America (it seems like the cooperation with Russia is a "just-in-case-it-doesn't-work-with-the-west" strategy). However, at the end Netherlands found out and pressed Indonesia not to continue the cooperation. In his defence, instead, Indonesia was like "it wasn't an official cooperation, so it's not admitted by his boss" (based on history, the one who was ordered to go to Prague to meet Russian delegate was a college student, the government admit to the Dutch they didn't know there was that kind of effort).
-Indonesia was pressed by Netherlands, and there was military agression to Indonesia. Soviet Union hated the action, it was stated that delegation from Ukraine was the one who actively looking for support from the world for Indonesia recognition of independence and sovereignty from Netherlands since 1948 (Russia couldn't do it because there was problem with Iran).
-The agression stopped, and Indonesia finally got sovereignty and recognition from Netherlands. Indonesia and Russia officially established relationship in February 3 1950.
