You walked with Enid right by your side. You were new to Nevermore and she was showing you around while also keeping you up with the latest gossip around the school or in the next town over that was named Jericho.
“Dude” Xavier frowned at his roommate, hitting his arm. “Huh” the dazed boy let out, looking at the long haired boy. “You weren’t listening?”
Rowan shook his head, guilt clear in his features. “I got distracted.” he frowned, watching as Xavier furrowed his eyebrows and looked to where the shorter boy nodded his head. “Oh, They’re new.”
Rowan only nodded, biting his lip. You’d never notice him. He knew it. Xavier knew it. Hell, Enid probably already knew it.
The next time he saw you was when you were going against Bianca in fencing. He watched intensely as you and the siren went after each other, smiling once he realized you had won the match.
“Nice moves.” Bianca smiled, staring you down. “Thank you.” you nodded, smiling back before looking over to another student who wanted to go against you.
“You should talk to them.” Xavier whispered in the boys ear, smiling softly. “I- I can’t-” Rowan shook his head, taking a short breath. “And why is that?” the long haired boy frowned, tilting his head. “They’re out of my league. And i’ll make a fool out of myself if I do.” the boy frowned, looking to his roommate with a look similar to a wounded puppy. “Would you like me to talk to them for you?”
“You would do that?” Rowan asked, confused as why the boy who seemed to careless about him would help. “Yeah” Xavier nodded, looking towards you again, waving slightly when he noticed you were looking in their direction.
You waved back with a smile on your face. A smile that made Rowan melt. Oh, how he loved you.
The third time he saw you was at the carnival. You were accompanied by Xavier who was hopefully putting in a good word for him.
“So how are you liking Nevermore?” Xavier asked, smile on his face. “It’s alright” you shrugged, “Kind of like every other private school i’ve been to, just with more outcasts and I actually like the uniform.”
“You like the uniform?” the tall boy cringed, watching as you chuckled lightly and nodded. “Way better than my last ones. Those were hideous.”
“Do you like anyone?”
You stared at him for moment, head tilted. “I like a lot of people.”
“No, like like.”
“like like ?”
“like like.” Xavier nodded his head, trying to laugh at thought of you two just repeating two words. “Well, I don’t know. I don’t think I know anyone that much to “like like” them.” you shrugged, “But I am curious about someone.”
“Oh? do tell.”
“This boy. He wears glasses. He’s-”
“Rowan. His name is Rowan. He’s my roommate actually.”
“Oh- Did I do something wrong? Because it seems like he’s always avoiding me.” you frowned, placing your hands in your pockets.
“Oh, no. I can promise you, you did nothing wrong. He’s just really awkward that’s all. But, if you liked to meet him I can set something up.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that.” you shook your head, smiling softly. “But, thanks though.”
“No. I insist. He’s right over there actually.” Xavier pointed to a boy who was sitting alone at a bench. The same boy you had been curious about for weeks. The same boy you may have developed a little crush on. The same boy who-
“Well?”
“Uh, sure. Yeah, let’s go.” you nodded, missing the way he inaudibly chuckled to himself.
“Rowan” Xavier called out as the both of you walked over, watching as he turned his head, eyes going wide at the sight of you. “Oh, hi.” the boy smiled, pushing his glasses up, doing his best to control his breathing, keeping a tight fist on his inhaler that was in his pocket. “Rowan this is Y/n. Y/n this is Rowan.”
“Hi, Y/n.” Rowan nodded, staring at you for a few seconds before looking to the ground again. “Hi, Rowan. It’s nice to finally meet you. Heard a lot of good things actually.”
“Good things?” he asked, looking up, cheeks going red as Xavier winked at him. He really was playing wingman. And he’d forever be in debt to the psychic. “Yeah. You’ve got yourself a good wingman over here.” you chuckled, sitting across from him.
“Oh- Uhm- Wingman? No-”
You stared at him as he used his inhaler, frowning slightly. “Do I make you nervous?”
The boy in the glasses looked at you, swallowing silently. “Not in a bad way.”
“In a good way then?”
“He likes you.” Xavier cut off the awkward encounter. “Xav-”
“I like you too.”
Both boys looked over at you. Xavier smiling in triumph and Rowan in shock. “You do?” Rowan began to smile, setting his inhaler down, controlling his breaths once again. “I do.”
warning(s): short mention of stancy , reader having some balls and asking Steve out on a date <33 , I think that’s it ? If I need to add more let me know!
He sighed, staring into space. For so long he believed he was in love with Nancy Wheeler, thought he’d never be able to get over her. Well, he was wrong, so totally wrong.
He had been majorly failing at getting dates, It was no secret he had lost his “King Steve” touch. He hated it. But, then you walked into the small ice cream parlor. He straightened up upon seeing you, eyes going wide. ‘You were new’ he thought to himself, not remembering the endless classes you both shared over the years.
“Steve?” you questioned, head tilted to the side. “Uh—”
“Y/n.” you chuckled, shaking your head, not noticing the small smile that appeared on his face. “Right, Y/n.” he pointed at you, then to himself, “Steve.”
“I know.” you giggled, staring at him, sharing the smile he wore. “Right… I’m sorry… What would you li—”
“Uh-Uh, give them the speech, Harrington.” Robin interpreted from the back room, standing behind the now open window. “Robin, please.” he muttered, “What speech ?” you smiled, placing your hands on the counter, raising an eyebrow.
He shook his head, blushing and looking down in embarrassment. Why was he like this with you? He couldn’t tell, but he knew for sure he didn’t want to give his usual saying when girls walked in.
“Awe, come on, Harrington.” you pouted, giving him puppy dog eyes. “I promise I won’t laugh.” you smiled, reaching your hand out for his. “Unless, it’s that embarrassing for you. Then, we can drop it.”
He slowly looked up at you, eyes holding something you couldn’t quite point out. “It wouldn’t work out, I saw you come in.”
“Would you like me to walk in again?” you chuckled,
“You’re not letting this go are you?”
You just simply shrugged, slowly walking backwards, doing the shoulder shake he was know for. “I like them.” Robin whispered, looking at Steve, who only stared at her blankly.
You walked up to the counter again, tapping your fingers gently, while the boy in the sailor hat turned around, blushing, “Ahoy There! Didn’t see you there! Would you like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me? I’ll be captain. Steve Harrington.” he coughed, looking around after he finished.
“That was cute.”
“You think so?” Steve asked, eyes brightening up, smiling widely. “Yeah.” you smiled, “And i’d take (your favorite flavor, lmao)”
Steve smiled, grabbing a cone then scooping the flavor of ice cream you chose, handing it to you soon after. “It’s on me.” he shook his head as you reached for your money.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.” he smiled, nodding, staring in your eyes, watching as squinted, tilting your head to the side. “Fine, but only one condition.”
The boy in front of you raised an eyebrow, “What’s this condition?” he questioned, barely noticing the group of kids walking in.
“We go on a date.”
Max’s mouth dropped, Lucas froze, Mike held a look of what could only be taken as astonishment, Will just kind of stood there not understanding the others reactions.
“Oh- Uhm, Yeah. I’d love that.” Steve nodded, almost too fast. “When?”
“When do you get off?”
“Right now” Robin answered, jumping through the window. “N—”
“Right. Now.” Robin gave the older boy a look, making him nod again, looking back to you. “Right now.” he smiled, “Heard The Goonies was good” he bit his lip, looking behind you at the kids, then back to you. “So did I.” you chuckled, “I need to change” he pointed to back, “Give me five.”
“Take your time.” you chuckled, sitting down at one of the booths, barely over hearing Lucas mutter, “Dustin isn’t going to believe this.”
You smiled softly, looking around the Hawkins Middle School gym. Will Byers had found himself someone to dance with, Max had pulled Lucas onto the dance floor, Mike and Eleven had also found themselves a place in the crowd. Then there was Dustin who was left looking around like a lost puppy.
You frowned at the sight, Watching as he got rejected by everyone he asked. You poured a last cup of punch, passing it off to a random kid you didn't know before looking over to Nancy, smiling as you watched both her and Jonathan joke around.
You looked around the room once again, eyes landing on Mike and Eleven. You smiled, waving at the young girl when you made eye contact. She smiled back waving before her attention went back to Mike. You continued looking around, remembering the first time you attended the snow ball. You were much like Dustin, left without a date, You even remember and cringe at the fact you had to awkwardly dance with Steve due to your parents not wanting you anywhere near boys.
"Y/n"
"Hey"
"Hello"
"Y/n"
The young boy sighed, staring at you zoned out, he pulled lightly at your dress, watching you jump. "Huh?" you questioned, looking down, relaxing, seeing Dustin holding a playful annoyed expression. "Sorry, Henderson." you pouted, going to pour him a cup.
"No, I don't want a drink."
You stopped, tilting your head. "Then what would you like?"
He took a breath, looking over to where Jonathan and Nancy stood, then back to you. "To dance" he mumbled, looking down to the floor.
"What?" you questioned, not hearing what he had said.
"Would you like to dance with me?" he asked, looking up to you with hopeful eyes. "I'd love to, Dustin." you smiled, taking his outstretched hand, following him to the dance floor.
You both began swaying back and forth. It was a peaceful quietness between you two for a few moments, before you spoke up. "Wanna hear something embarrassing?"
"What?" the young boy questioned, tilting his head. A small smile came to your face.
"The first time I attended this. My parents made me dance with Steve. I was the loser dancing with her brother."
"You're lying," Dustin's eyes widened. "You're lying, That has to be a joke, It's a joke right?"
"I wish it was.' You pouted, chuckling softly as Dustin twirled himself around your arm. "Well now you're the cool cheerleader dancing with the loser middle schooler." he frowned, leaning into you. "Hey, Girls this age are dumb, But give them a few years, and they'll wise up." you smiled, looking down at him. "You'll have them pawning over you in no time."
"You really think so?" he asked, smiling widely.
"I know so."
He smiled even wider if that was even possible, pulling you into a hug. You hugged back, rubbing his back, Looking over to your friends who were smiling just as wide. "You're the best dance date ever." Dustin mumbled, pulling away, taking your arm. "Now let's go take a photo."
You sat at the kitchen table. Will right across from you, eating the cereal you had made him. It was quiet for the most part, Tv playing lowly in the living room was the only sound echoing off the walls until Hopper spoke up, “Where are my fucking keys?” he questioned, hint of an attitude in his voice.
You just stared at him blankly, Joyce; your beloved mother just shook her head, taking a deep breath, “Hopper, please use appropriate language while Will and El are in the room.” she stated in her “mom voice”, rolling your eyes at the older man’s reply.
“May I ascertain the whereabouts of my fucking keys?”
Both you and Will spit out your cereal, getting it all over each other, making the both of you laugh more than the chief’s statement itself.
“Y/n… Will…” Joyce shook her head, disappointed clear in her features, “Clean it up, don’t just sit there.”
“Sorry mom.” both you and your younger brother spoke in unison, still laughing, there was no doubt you both would be quoting that from now.
“Here, Hopper.” Eleven smiled, handing him his keys. He smiled thankfully at the younger girl, “Thanks, El.” he patted her head, while she swatted at his hand. “No.” she shook her head, furrowing her brows at the mess you and Will were cleaning up. “What happened?”
Summary: After the events of Hawkins 83’. The youngest Byers seems to only find comfort in his brother's ex.
a/n: I haven’t wrote anything in awhile, so this may suck and I apologize. But when I get back into the gist of things (if I do) then i’ll re-vamp it :)
It was late, nearing eleven o’clock. You were finishing up the last of your chores when the phone rang. You jumped, shaking your head, walking over to the phone, answering it. “Hello?”
"Y/n, Hi." Jonathan muttered, biting his lip, looking at his little brother, who only stared up at him with hopeful eyes. "Uhm, What's up?" You asked, leaning against the wall, confused as of why he was calling you this late. "I was wondering if you wanted to come over."
"Jonathan..." you began, but soon got cut off by him. "Please, Y/n. I'll make it up to you. I'll drive you to and from school everyday until the end of year."
"Oh, you're desperate." You chuckled, biting your lip. "But fine, give me a few."
"Thank you, we'll all owe you one." He finished, before hanging up.
You bit your lip, walking up to the Byers front porch. You took a breath, lightly knocking on the door. "Oh thank you." Jonathan said, once he opened the door. "I'm sorry I called this late, I need you. Just for ten minutes."
You raised your eyebrow. "You need me?"
"Not like that." He panicked, shaking his head. "Just follow me." He sighed, stepping aside so you could walk in. "What's going on?" you asked, stepping inside, closing the door behind you. "You're worrying me, Byers."
You furrowed your eyebrows even more, once you both stopped in front of Will's room. "Oh." you muttered, nodding in understanding. "Y/n?" Will quietly spoke, sitting up. "Hey buddy." You smiled, walking around Jonathan over to him.
"He wants you to read him a bed time story, Like old times." Jonathan spoke up. "Old times?' you questioned, looking over to him with a hint of a smile. "Please" Will muttered, pulling on your sleeve. "I only like your voice." He smiled, pulling you closer to him, handing you a book.
"See?" Jonathan chuckled, looking at you, while also pointing at Will. You chuckled, looking back to Will. "Fine, Fine. I'll read the book." You smiled, taking the book, moving so you were sitting next to the younger boy. "Dramatics or Normal?”
"Dramatics" Will giggled, laying his head on your shoulder, wrapping his arm around your middle.
You had finished reading, looking down at the young boy who was fast asleep, still holding onto you. “He really loves you, you know?”
“I do.” You smiled, looking over at Jonathan who was sitting at Will’s desk. “I really love him too” You chuckled, holding onto the younger boy, yawning slightly. “My parents are gonna kill me. When they get home and see i’m not there.”
“I’ll cover for you, You were watching Will last minute. And you fell asleep.” the older boy smiled, looking at you. “You’re a life savor, Byers.” you chuckled, closing your eyes letting sleep overtake you as Jonathan turned off the light and headed to his room.
warning(s): reader is vecna’d , reader relives some traumatizing moments (seeing the demogorgon with the group at Hawkins Middle , Billy beating the shit out of Steve at the Byers , Finding Steve is Starcourt Basment) , Cute moment between reader and Steve when they comes back from V man’s hold , not really proof read , all mistakes are mine! , let me know if I need to add anything else :)
You stood still as the voices of your peers disappeared, You looked around confused. ‘Where did everyone go?’ you thought, biting your lip. “Steve?” you called out to your older brother, “Dustin?” you called out for your best friend. “Nancy? Robin?” you called out to the girls most important in both your’s and Steve’s life. “Max? Lucas?” you called out to your other friends and just like the times before no response.
You walked further into the newly darkened room. A shiver making its way up your spine as you continued to walk in the vacant home. “Y/n…” a creepy voice called out, he was watching you from the shadows.
You shook your head, tears welling up in your eyes as you made eye contact with the newest threat to Hawkins. “No” you shook your head, tears falling as you began to walk backwards, soon groaning as you tripped over a vine. You continued to shake your head, “Please.” you begged, crying harder, letting out a yelp as the vines tightened and the monster came closer.
“Don’t cry.” he spoke, lifting his hand, watching you intensely, smiling wickedly as he made the memories that you pushed aside for the last few years come to the surface.
———
“What the hell is that? a young you questioned, holding onto Dustin, standing behind him. “A demogorgon.” Mike responded looking at you then back to the monster at the other end of the classroom. “And what do we do about it?” you frowned, holding onto Dustin tighter as it got closer. “Ow.” the boy frowned, pushing at your hands. “Sorry.” you mumbled, fully standing behind him now, furrowing your brows at the sight of something lighting up at where you saw the monster standing moment before making you look again, eyes widening at the sight of El using her powers. “Holy shit.”
———
“Steve.” you called out, watching as the new boy, also known as Billy Hargrove, also known as Max’s older half brother was beating the lights out of your brother. “Billy” Max called out, trying her best to break the fight, trying to pull the boy away from Steve with the help of you, Mike, Lucas and Dustin. It didn’t work well since he was stronger than all of you combined.
You frowned as you fell back, You weren’t meant to breakup fights. You looked around the Byers home looking for something, anything to get the boy away from your brother. Even if it meant it killed him. Then you spotted it, the syringe they were using on Will.
You walked over to the small dresser, picking it up and making your way back to where the mullet haired boy was still going at your brother and you stuck the needle in his neck, pressing down making the anesthesia go into him.
He turned around, looking at you, then to Max who held Steve’s bat, you blocked out what happened between them, opting to check up on your brother. “Steve?” you frowned, holding onto him. He wasn’t giving a response, he was in and out of consciousness. “Steve” you yelled, hitting his chest, tears falling down as the boy passed out.
———
You let out a sigh as you continued to walk with Dustin and Erica. They both took turns giving you a concerned look. “Hey, it’s going to be okay.” Dustin smiled softly, trying his best to sound optimistic. “We don’t know that for—” Erica began but soon stopped at the glare she got from the boy.
Dustin took a step back, wrapping his arms around you. You returned the hug, permanent frown on your face. “He’s the only family I have. I can’t lose him.” you cried into Dustins shoulder as he rubbed up and down your back. “I know. I know.” he frowned.
| | |
“Robin- Steve-” your eyes widened at the sight of them. “You go to Steve. I’ll get Robin.” Dustin lightly pushed you to your older brother’s direction. “Steve.” you repeated, untying him. On the verge of tears, shaking your head, looking up to him. “Hey, I know.” he smiled widely, “You’re uhm- You’re—” he began snapping his fingers, trying to remember where he knew you from. “I’m your sibling, Steve.”
“No.” the older boy mumbled, shaking his head. “You don’t look like them.” he sighed, “I do know you though.” he smiled, a goofy smile you wanted to smack off his face. Instead you took a deep breath and hugged him, a real hug a hug the both of you haven’t shared in a long time. And he hugged back, holding onto you just as tightly as you held him.
———
“Y/n.” Steve shook you, shaking his head. “No, you’re not dying. Not here and certainly not now.” he cried, holding onto your shoulder’s, “Y/n.” he yelled out as you came back, eyes opening, gasp escaping from you lips.
“Oh thank god.” he let out, taking a breath as did everyone else. Then he groaned at the feeling of you holding onto him tightly. He didn’t complain though, he hugged you back, running his hands up and down your back, kissing the top of you head. “It’s okay, It’s okay.”
“I love you.” you mumbled into his shoulder, he smiled softly, giving you a little squeeze. “I love you too.”
You laid down on the Byers’ living room floor, watching a movie with Will. He had begged you the last couple of days for a movie night, Just you two, He made sure Joyce and Jonathan were both busy.
It was halfway through said movie when you felt him tapping you, you looked down with a soft smile, “What’s up, bud?”
“Do you still love Jonathan?” he asked, innocent eyes staring up at you, while you tilted your head, wondering where this was coming from. “Because he still loves you, He’s still always talking about you. About, how pretty you are. How smart you are. Oh, and between me and you-” he paused, looking around then back to you, leaning closer, whispering, “He’s totally jealous of some Munson guy.”
You let out a small chuckle, “Eddie?”
“I don’t know, he only calls him Munson.”
You nodded, biting your lip, looking down at him, “I’ll tell you, but. you can’t tell anyone.”
The young boy nodded, holding up his pinky finger, “Promise”
“Did you also pinky promise, Jonathan?” you tilted your head, slowly lifting your hand, while he shook his head, looping your pinky fingers together, smiling widely.
“I do”
Will’s smile grew larger, he stood up in victory, ignoring your semi judgmental look, dancing around the living room. “I knew it” he yelled, before tackling you into a bear hug.
You groaned, holding onto the young Byers’ boy, laughing silently. “Just so you know. Dustin, Lucas, Mike and I already have our placements for your guy’s wedding.”
“Oh.”
“Wanna hear em?”
“Sure, Will” you chuckled, holding onto him, the boy smiled almost mischievously. “I’m the best man, obviously.” he giggled, cuddling more into you. “Dustin is the flower boy, don’t ask, he was persistent.”
“Lucas the ring bearer.”
“And Mike?” you questioned, when the young boy went silent, “He wants to be the one who gives you away.” he smiled, furrowing his brows. “Said something about how you’ve always been like a sister and he deserves that right.”
You smiled, somehow just realizing how much you really meant to the little group of kids. “As for Max and Eleven, they weren’t around when we had the conversation.”
You nodded, “You all think about my wedding day more than I do.”
“We’ll even plan it for you, if you like.” the young boy giggled again, looking up to you, eyes shining, “You should go for it.”
“Go for what?”
“Jonathan, get back together with him.”
———————————————————————
It had been two hours after, Will was fast asleep in his room, no doubt dreaming about the wedding he wants You and Jonathan to have.
You on the other hand were finishing up an essay for your English Class. You were writing down the last paragraph when the door opened, you didn’t pay any mind to it, opting to finish what you were doing.
“Hey, Y/n.” Jonathan smiled, closing the door. “Hi, Jonathan.” you replied, putting your school stuff back in your backpack, then, looking up at him, smiling.
A comfortable silence fell upon you both. You moved to the living room, while, he got himself something to eat. You bit your lip, silently thinking about the conversation you and Will had earlier.
You still held feeling for the oldest Byers’ boy. You looked over at him, watching as he ate. You admired him for a second, before zoning out, still staring at him.
He looked up at you, raising his eyebrow. “Everything alright?” he questioned, frowning once he didn’t get a response. “Y/n?” he spoke a little louder, watching as you jumped.
“Huh?”
“Are you alright?” he frowned, making his way over to you. “Yeah, i’m fine.” you nodded, looking down as he got closer.
“I know when something’s bothering you, so what’s wrong?”
You looked at him once he sat down, shaking your head. “I’m okay, I promise.” you smiled, looking away again. Why was it so hard to confess your feelings when you knew he felt the same? You didn’t know.
“Y/n, please.” he frowned, he hated seeing you like this, conflicted with your emotions, not wanting to open up. “I know something’s u-”
You cut him off, Your lips on his lips. He was frozen for a moment, before kissing back, wrapping his arms around you, pulling you closer to him. The both of you smiling into the kiss.
He was the first to pull away, looking down at you, eyes full of love, smiling. “Oh.” he chuckled, smiling, while you wrapped your arms around him. “How long have you been feeling this way?”
You shrugged, looking down again, blushing. “I never stopped loving you.”
His smile grew, tilting your head up with his fingers. You moved your head into his shoulder, before the both of you could make eye contact. He chuckled, rubbing your back. “No need to be embarrassed. I never stopped either. If anything I’ve probably grown more in love with you.”
You looked up at him, “Really?”
He nodded, pulling you closer, so you were sitting in his lap. You froze momentarily, staring down at him. “But i’m guessing Will already told you that.”
You nodded, holding back a chuckle. “Also told me his and the others placement for our wedding.”
“Huh?” the older boy questioned, looking at you, wide-eyed. “Oh, he hasn’t told you?”
“No, but please enlighten me.”
“Will’s the best man, Lucas is the ring bearer, Dustin the flower boy, and Mike wants to give me away. As for the girl’s I don’t know, they weren’t there during the conversation.”
“Well that’s less work for us then, already got our wedding team and we aren’t even getting married yet.” he chuckled, starting to play with your hair.
“But i’m being serious when I tell you, I’ve just grown more in love with you. You’ve always been here for us, especially Will, and if you haven’t noticed he loves you to death, pretty sure he loves you more than me.”
You stared at him, smiling, “No, he definitely loves you more, you’re his brother.” you giggled, moving your hand to his hair, running your fingers through it, while he shook his head. “No, he definitely loves you more. You should hear how you talks about you.”
You still held a smile, moving your head down, kissing him again. You missed this more than you’d like to admit. He kissed you back, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“Oh my god.”
You looked over, eyes-wide, seeing Will standing in the hallway, huge smile on his face. “Oh. My. God.” he yelled, once more, covering his mouth, trying to hide a squeal.
Both You and Jonathan chuckled, you moved back onto the couch, staring at the young boy. “Are you two back together?” he asked hopefully.
Your gaze moved to Jonathan, who was already staring at you. “Are we?”
“Y/n”
“Yes, Jonathan”
“Will you be my girlfriend, again?”
You just stared at him, biting the inside of your cheek, fake debating on your answer. “I would be honored to be your girlfriend, again.”
“I’m the best wingman alive.” Will smiled, running to where you both sat, sitting in between you both, cuddling more into you. “Oh and the by the way. Y/n, I love you more.”
