“You’ve been here before?” He perks up, eyes brimming with newfound curiosity upon their hike through the great, dense forest. Mist encompassed them from around all sides, the paths between colossal trees seeming endless. The only light to accompany them was the dimly lit torch grasped firmly within his palm.
Darkness had shrouded most of the plains and valleys with it's cold shadows, with every passing moment it crept further across this part of the land, it's dark fingers swallowing up all light. The night wind blew across the expanse, with hints of sweetness from berries that grew wild in the undergrowth, the breeze blew their scent across the darkening fields.
As the shadows thickened, the wind became even colder, creeping, like a frightening creature. The spindly, crescent moon rose on the horizon, as pale as a ghost.
And in the lonely night he waited no fire was built to aid the Sheikah who wore around him a cloak to keep away the chill his every present companion curled around him Linden keeping him warm with his presence and the fur pressed against his back as they blended into the dense undergrowth of the wood.
Distant sounds of monsters and other wild things filled his ears but he kept his red gaze out on the field. Waiting and watching. He had a job to do. But until the one he waited for came he must stay hidden from the searching eyes of the King of Evil's vast horde that made even the safety of the shadows relative.

Persona as a whole definitely seems to be in an interesting place, RPC wise, like I mentioned before I think the P5 side of things has sort of mellowed out - I imagine the Persona 3 remake and Episode Aigis brought some people back to the P3 side of things as well as some new folks and it'll be interesting to see how much things change in a year or so. Persona 4 also seems to be sort of mellow and quiet - I see new blogs there sometimes, but since there hasn't been a lot of new Persona 4 content lately, I can see why it's quiet - I'm sure if Atlus announces a remake or something like that, things will change - in my experience and opinion, it's just pretty quiet and peaceful here.

“Link, I...” the fairy began, her blue eyes soft, “I know that things aren’t the way that they were, and I know that they likely never will be. You and I were... we were a team. We were perfect. And I ruined it.”
By the Goddesses, this was difficult to say; how many times had she rehearsed this in her head? How often had she hoped, even dreamed of Link being in front of her, one last time, if only so that she could carry on this final message? Even if they were never to see each other again after this moment... she needed him to know, to understand.
Swallowing once and attempting to meet his eyes, she continued. “I just...I need to apologize. I’m sorry, Link, so sorry for what I did. I...I messed up. But know that not a single day has gone by that I haven’t regretted abandoning you the way that I did. I’ll understand if...if you can’t forgive me for that. I know that it caused you pain.”
Somehow Navi had managed to keep her voice steady all this time, though tears had begun rolling down her cheeks. Without another sound, she lifted herself a little higher, cupped his chin in her hands, and pressed her lips against his forehead.
The affectionate gesture was reminiscent of their childhood, a memory of times past. Then, Navi had actually been a bit taller than her beloved friend; now, she had little choice but to hover in order to reach him.
After several seconds the fairy pulled back and opened eyes that were now wide and unsure. “I...I care about you, Link. Please, never forget that.”
She never really believed her Kuku's stories growing up. They were nice for bedtimes and rainy afternoons but not once did the woman put stock in the tales. At least she didn't until one day of idly flipping through an updated bingo book. It was Masuyo's, she didn't have her own since there wasn't a real need for one. As her eyes glazed over and the faces blurred together one happened to catch her attention. The pages were turned back and she was glued to the picture. Giving the data a skim the young girl quickly gathered the essential information of her interest.
Hoshigaki Kisame, S-Rank Missing Nin, Former Kirigakure shinobi, currently affiliated with criminal organization Akatsuki.
Filing that information away she continued to stare at his picture. He looked so bizarre. Like a fish.
Manō, shark.
Mika vividly recalled the story Kuku told her when it had rained one day in August. The young girl had been sitting in the older woman's lap as she recounted a tale about the shark god Kamohoali'i, who fell in love with a girl of the islands, Kalei. In his attempts to court the girl he took the form of a man and soon married her. They had a child who grew up to be a handsome man with a shark's mouth on his back and the ability to change into a shark when in water.
She'd never seen a shark before and this person wasn't handsome in the conventional sense. Nonetheless he was the most unusual person Mika had looked upon. This Kisame was surely a descendant of Kamohoali'i. A ridiculous thought but it sounded nice, Mika nodded in approval.
She was 15 then.
Her first shark encounter happened two years later, off the cost of Kirigakure during an expedition for a reported ruin. The team had been given numerous warnings about the wildlife and it's particular viciousness toward humans. They'd all put on their best suits before diving in. It wasn't long before Mika realized that two large fish were nearing her. Gods, they were huge. Two great whites came into view and began to circle her. One of them drew closer, Mika's heart pounded furiously as it's snout bumped into her chest. What was it doing? With hesitation she put her hand out and touched the back of the shark as it glided by. Moments passed and the sharks, probably satisfied with their investigation, swam away from Mika. Only when the teen got back into the boat did she start trembling. It was an incredible experience. There was a desire instilled in her, to see those beautiful creatures again.
Trips to Kirigakure became more frequent though Mika did not venture much farther past the affiliated islands. If she went another 140 kilometers Mika could find the birthplace of her grandmother. Still the memory of kuku's face when pressed about her past, taut with pain and fear, made Mika hold back. What happened there was bad enough to make the tough as nails islander run away and abandon her young sons and husband. She never told her grandchildren why Kahi La Hiki made her cry. Mika was afraid to find out. Instead she occupied herself with diving off the shores of Kiri to see the sharks. The variety in species was glorious, each sub-species seemed to live in pockets about the islands and possibly mingled farther out in the open waters. Beyond great whites there were hammerheads, tiger sharks, makos, bull sharks...some she could only find in textbooks because they were out of reach.
Shortly after she turned 18, Mika ran into the person that sparked her interest in sharks, Kisame. If pressed for details Mika would simply become very vague in regards to the encounter. Nothing significant had happened aside from the blue skinned man implying bodily harm if she tried to come after him. The best moment was him leaning in, Samehada pointed dangerously close to her throat. He smelled like the ocean and it felt exactly like her first meeting with sharks. Mika worried if she was starting to get a crush. Especially on a guy like that.
Confusion was the first emotion to surface, curiosity and desire slowly bubbled up after. Mika wasn't sure what to do with these feelings, they didn't seem appropriate and for a while she ignored them. Later, in a rather drunken stupor the realization hit. It wasn't Kisame she was falling for, Mika was in love with the ocean. That man embodied the true object of her desire, perhaps he was the ocean incarnate. The story she has for him becomes more fantastic. It was obvious that he suffered a curse, one that trapped him halfway between a man and shark. Whether that curse could be broken was more of an afterthought. Perhaps he didn't know himself. Soon she no longer saw him as a child of Kamohoali'i. For Mika, he was Kamohoali'i. Perhaps in this story she could be Kalei, if only to shower her love for the open waters on him.
