matthew richard walters was born one minute after his twin brother milo walters. and that was it for the walters family. they got two sons when they wanted one and surprise. what a shocking turn of events.

even as a child it was pretty clear that matty was never going to take anything too seriously. he had the ability to exceed at school, but mainly just dragged through it hoping for the best. he found more enjoyment in becoming the class clown and making people laugh. he was so god damn good, even his teachers used to laugh with him. like what an achievement. he was very proud of himself.

as he became a teenager, he started to find more and more enjoyment out of drugs and alcohol. and was sort of troubled?? but in a fun way. like center of the party, pouring shots. making sure you get home safe, and then drinking himself to sleep on the couch.

since he popped outta the womb, matty has always cared deeply about the people around him. he’s always wanted the best for others and for people to be happy, perhaps at the expense of his own happiness. but he truly believes he will be happy if his friends are happy

he will drop everything for you. whenever. and for whatever.

it’s kinda how he got to be so popular? his enthusiastic personality was contagious and you knew you were going to have a good time with him. whether you were drunk or not. he was a planner, and a go-getter. and he feel into his group of friends easily.

but he gotta hella sloppy as he made his way through high school. and finally into college it was kind of clear he had a problem?? like he was the guy in alcohol edu who was drinking to feel better and you didn’t know if you talked to him, ignore it or bring it up to your ra.

junior year was when it all crashing down around him. he had been dating a young woman, a year younger than him, since the start of sophomore year. he was pretty sure he was in love??? but also had no idea. they would talk about settling down and it would only somewhat scare him so he thought that was a good sign. and then one night he drove them both back from a party. he ended up driving straight into a lamppost

she died in the hospital not three hours later. he ended up with massive scars along his left side, and intense survivors guilt. he stopped drinking and smoking and anything else cold turkey.

he has crafted this persona around him that is still very much the cocky, happy man he’s always been. and he is happy for the most part. he’s so glad he’s still alive to make up for the shit he’s done. but he also can’t outrun that shit for much longer?? though he’s trying his best. he hasn’t completely given up weed, so that eases the pain when he’s truly alone. and also writing. but for the most part he tries his hardest to not be alone

it makes for a lot of 3 am adventures and phone calls. he’s constantly moving and doing something, so that he can just pass out in his bed later on and not have to think.

that’s why, after agreeing to come back for this god forsaken wedding, he was quick to find a house that didn’t leave him alone for very long. he’s just here to crawl into bed with you and cuddle pretending like he’s doing you a favor.

in his prime he is a jokester. witty and quick, and always ready to play start up some prank or bring back a running gag from years ago that you almost forgot about. he’s positive and a total fuck to be honest. he’s mostly a massive man-child but one that wants the best for you. and will do everything in his power to do so.

but he’s incredibly repressed and more than a little distant. he’s happy to hear your problems, but never quick to share his own. he hasn’t told anyone about lily (his ex-girlfriend). and he isn’t planning on changing that anytime soon. his reason for ridding himself of his party habits changes each time you ask him (i’m a practicing buddhist, recently found i was allergic to potatoes, it’s an aesthetic choice you wouldn’t understand)

i’m total trash but can i have a family of strong af latinas who have developed a wolf pack mentality bc their fam is such a freaking disaster and they’ve had to develop a thick skin bc of it. with an absentee mother and a jail bird father so they learned how to take care of each other from a young age and if you mess with any one of them you’re basically asking for a black eye. they’re all so damn different and chances are they bicker about 80% of the time but they’re also this kind of enigmatic entity to people sort of like the gallaghers (latin version) meets the virgin suicides meets girls who really aren’t here for your shit. tough as nails babes who will curse you out in spanish like its nothing and can hold their liquor!! will relentlessly harass each other about literally anything and everything but have kept up with a weekly dinner tradition that means if you dont come expect 1 (or all of them) to show up outside of your apartment
