"No no no no no." Fitz clutched at his curls, fingers digging in to his scalp.
"Whoa man," Mack's hand came up to tug his hands away from his hair. "Knock it off. You'll go bald if you keep doing that."
Fitz side glanced at him, "Like you."
Mack just smiled and nod, "Exactly. Wanna tell me what's bothering you."
Fitz looked down at their joined hands, Mack's one hand kept both of his at bay from the danger of pulling his curls again in frustration. "I can't. I can't-"
"Can't what?" Mack peered down at Fitz and took in the dark shadows of his eyes. "Can't sleep?"
"Yes. Yes."
"All right turbo, what you need is to make that brain of yours quiet down." Mack's other hand teased over hair, tapping his forehead. "Any thing that'll help?"
Fitz struggled with the idea, thoughts flying through his head and falling just as fast. Mack seemed to the the idea anyway and lead him out of the lab down to the sleeping quarters and bypassed Fitz's room to Mack's own.
When they got in to the room Mack slipped off his shoes and Fitz followed suit for curiosity sake, trailing after Mack to see what he'd do next. The other man fell on to the bed and patted the section between his knees. Fitz stared at him warily; thus far Mack had never given reason to doubt him however so he slipped into the space and Mack looped an arm around him and pulled him back to rest against Mack's chest.
"Just focus on my voice and breathing." Mack's beard tickled Fitz's ear as he talked but Fitz closed his eyes and let the words wash over him and block out the rest of the noise in his head. Eventually darkness over came him with the lull of Mack's heart beneath him and the sound of Mack's voice around him.

THIS IS UNRELATED. But I've only seen two of those and was thinking Love Actually but then was like 'that's an ensemble cast! what would I have in the background?' which of course led to FitzTrip vs FitzMack and my brain was like: or. Fitz has a twin named Leo who's used to be exactly like him and was in an accident and suffered brain damaged and Mack falls in love with him a la the two people who talk a different language but can understand each other anyway and Trip's busy pestering Fitz about Moby Dick while the two of them are the pornstars that fall in love (cause bickering over classic literature while trying to film a scene is just what porn needs). Then I can have both!
