it felt so strange to be alone with him.

they shared a fate, or so it seemed, and zelda knew so much about him -- having gained every bit of knowledge midna had when their spirits were joined as one -- but she had never truly spoken to him on her own, not once. and perhaps it was that that left her so uneasy, that everything she had learned of the hero he had not told her willingly, or perhaps it was that she had cried into his shoulder, clinging desperately to him for comfort, not several hours ago. 

she felt at a loss for what to say, what to do, her eyes fixed on the small fire that did little to stave off the night’s chill. she dared a glance in his direction, palm pressed to her face, her fingers tapping an idle rhythm against her cheekbone.

“how...how are the children? have you heard any news since you saw them last?” 

the moment the words had left her mouth, she regret them. should she know about the children? their kidnapping? his quest to save them? her attention returned to the fire, and somewhere in her heart, she hoped that he had not heard her over the crackling of the logs, of the wind whistling through the desert.

@hylianremnants​ asking questions that would keep vis up at night :

somehow, vis has been granted two gifts from the divine. both are mirrors, with one showing what a perfect world, according to vis, would look like, where their goals & dreams have all been achieved, where they are the happiest they could possibly be. the other shows the opposite - a world where vis is at their lowest possible ebb, where nothing has gone right, as if the universe itself has conspired to ensure vis is as miserable as can be. what do these worlds look like, vis' own utopia & dystopia ? is there anything they can do to achieve the former, or any mistake they could make which would cause the latter ?

two mirrors from the divine ––– BUT WHO WAS THIS DIVINE ? it was not his god . that folly . did they think him a bring who was easily swayed by such things such as esoteric messages from a being who denied him a name ? no matter ; he would humor the idea . as much as he HATED HIS OWN VISAGE . 

the first was one of the more beautiful mirrors . the designs carved into it’s handle rivaled anything he owned in his manor . the curves of the frame bordered with the turns of waves . whales breaching the surface and the isle of shadows seen in such detail ! had he enjoyed mirrors he would have kept it. no matter . he glanced towards himself . 

and his hair was long ––– beautifully long . braids and beads interlaced within his locks. oh how they shined ! there was color in his clothes again ; for his wife stood by his side with a babe in his arms . oh the vivians togethers again ! all three of them smiled - dazzlingly anyone who would see them. his daughter . . . perfect . with two working legs . 

she wasn’t deformed . 

he turned away for a moment , just a moment –– when did this tear roll down his cheek ?  he turned back to ask himself a question . funny . he hadn’t done this in so long . . . normally when he speaks to his reflection they had nothing kind to say . softly he asked what had gone so well in his life . 

the reflection answered : ❛ my businesses boomed faster with the help of my wife. i married quickly for it was true love and she always values my voice . our daughter was born soon after and the revolution payed me no mind for i sent them money while playing neutral to God . when the cards were in the hands of those fighting for rights i backed them –– gaining myself stable footing in the countries future . we’re going to have another child soon . . . under new ruling where i will help shape the world to better fit everyone . play the game well , me . you do it well but one can always be LUCKIER . ❜

was that not similar to his own ? what was so different in that world ? what was the variable that caused him to descent into darker parts of his mind ? ones where there was no way he could see even the smallest light from candles burning in the dark . what was it ?! it was ––– it was mocking him wasn’t he ! yes of course , showing him something he could never have ! what a horrid little play his own mind saw . he could not lie to his own mind for he WAS HIS MIND ! but no –– no . recall von hellbert ! this was not your mind playing tricks . THIS WAS GOD . 

the other mirror was sad looking . simple . dirty even .  

this time there was no vivian –– neither of them . his hair while still long , was dirty . ridden with lice and oil , curls no longer perfect but matted to his skull . skin pale . skinny as well ; to the point where death knocks upon his chamber door . if he even had a chamber to call his own . clothes were once the beautiful dresses and tunics he wore were now ripped , horribly sewn back together and stained beyond belief . . . 

and his eye was missing . a sign of disgrace . one for liars and thieves who dare oppose God’s wishes . terrified he asked what went wrong . 

and the answer was simple. : ❛ THEY FOUND OUT WE’RE DEFORMED . ❜

no . no. NO ! he took both mirrors into his hands and SHATTERED them on the floor –– the sound of broken glass echoing in the halls of his manor . on his hands and knees he shuffles through the pieces ; cuts on his hand . he mixes and matches them as if they were a puzzle until he creates a new mirror .  there was no trick in this one . just a crazed look in his eyes . and silence .

it was silently that she entered, the door opened just enough for her slender frame to slip through, the pads of her feet dulling the sound of her footsteps against the stone. it was a sad little room, she thought, her eyes wandering curiously as she stepped further inside. certainly nicer than anything she had ever seen, of course, and yet it was...dismal, and dark, and cold. she almost felt a twinge of sympathy for whoever inhabited the room -- under any other circumstances, she likely would have.

yet, once her gaze fell upon the figure at the window -- still and silent, shrouded in shadow -- she growled. low and beastly and dangerous, the creature hardly recognized it as her own, but then, she still did not recognize this form as her own. 

her stance dropped, and she took a few cautious steps towards the center of the room, eyes fixed on the figure -- the person midna had brought her here to meet.

i want to rp with a sky Impa for mentor-student relationship because it’s strongly hinted that Impa acts a mentor during zellie’s journey but also i’d love to see sky impa have an aneurysm whenever zelda does whatever quick thinking solutions she may have when in trouble that’s borderline reckless. no i will not stop laughing at that fanart of zel bonking monster head with harp and impa ready to have a heart attack at this.
