Hey love! One of the things that always makes me think about Bonnie being shipped with any vampire is how ultimately, they're vampires and she's a witch. I feel it's highly unlikely any of her fanon love interests would really "allow" her (and using that term makes me feel like a white cis man ew😭) to remain mortal, ESPECIALLY Klaus. I feel Damon would just take the cure to be with her if she asked.

So how do *you* feel about Bonnie being a vampire herself? I can't see her being anything other than a witch, but of course, I imagine fanfiction writers also make her find other ways to be immortal without losing her connection to magic (I'd swear that's what The Summoned Witch does, but don't take my word for it because I barely remember).

Tbh, I guess if its something Bonnie wanted and choose for herself I wouldn’t mind it as much if its 100% her call and agency. I tend to only see her as wanting to be a witch or even if she thinks she has no-magic a psychic at best too tbh. In canon, Bonnie was wearing Enzo’s blood necklace and talking about living forever with him but her main reasons for not turning for him was because of Elena due to Kai’s spell. Not necessarily because she didn’t want too (if im remembering correctly that is). I think this is the one time Caroline actually steps up and tells Bonnie she can’t make a sacrifice tbh. But, if Bonnie was a vampire I’d imagine she’d be like Sarah Fox from mybabysitter’s a vampire, they’re pretty much the same character besides Sarah is treated with tons of desirability and her friend group is nicer/helpful but she’s still heroic and very much a teenaged girl. Sarah became a full vampire so Ethan wouldn’t have too. So a vampire that’s pro staying out of the drama and being violent to people just for her own gain but willing to get her hands dirty for whoever asks for it. If not, I’d see Bonnie kinda like season 2 Claudia from IWTV, making sure she had a community in the person, she’s dating or outside of them so her experience wouldn’t be so lonely or in a different light with Claudia comparison Bonnie’s pent up abandonment issues turning into rage. I’m gonna use Truth Teller by TheHedgeRider as an example here Bonnie in the end did the immortality spell after she got everything she wanted in her human life. In The Summoned Witch by Szajnie, Bonnie got to be immortal from Hope liking her life to Klaus. So hey it is other fun ways.

I do think though shipping wise Klaus would def beg her to become immortal because his possessive ass probably couldn’t take breaking up because Bonnie got older and physically speaking since he is 25 it would be hard to be together LMAOOOO. I find these things fun to explore in fanon. Ngl, because Bonnie has died a few times and missed out on life I could see her doing the immortality spell too thinking she needs to make up for lost time but she’d want a community. Okay last thought and im done rambling but I did think as a kid when I watched TVD on/off when it was airing they were gonna turn bonnie into well what became a heretic (I was 12-16 maybe don’t jump me LOL) because everytime they had a character that was non-vampire *looks at Tyler* the writers seemed to hey, now you have half vampire side and we can ignore what you were and that makes it easier for us to deal with you! I think they did it with Hayley too a bit tbh

Kat wouldve ate up a transition scene though if they DID force that in canon.. maybe if they let her haha.

Am I being too woke in believing most people don't actually ship kennett (I believe that's the name of Bonnie x Kol ship, as far as I'm aware) but just use the pairing as a backup, most of the time?

I don't mean all shippers, of course, but from what I've seen most fans jump on the "Bonnie is mistreated" train and pair them together as a way of saying they're not like the rest. It just reads as like here, damn, or as I'm not like the rest, see? Something I see a lot, whenever there's a video of the girls trio with a Mikaelson, it's always "Elena and Caroline fought over the wrong brothers" "They both could've had a Mikaelson/become a Mikaelson" and completely ignore Bonnie/kennett most of the time till someone brings her or them up.

I mean, the ship has 336 works on ao3 without excluding any pairing. Now just look at the massive difference in Bonnie x Kol fanfics in ao3 if we exclude klaroline:

Excluding kalijah leaves us with 256 works, and excluding elejah leaves us with 301. While elejah and kennett often aren't tagged in the same stories, it's still a considerable difference to me.

Bonnie and Kol are a great ship, but when they're not the main pairing, they're used either as a backup, an excuse for Bonnie to follow whatever girl into New Orleans, or they just have Bonnie be the cheerleader of the main girl.

I don't know. Maybe I am reading too much into it, what are your thoughts?

I don’t think you’re wrong tbh it maybe more of a multi-factored situation though. Like you said it isn’t all shippers and some people did like Kennett it’s some blogs, some Kennett centric fics out there, some decent amount of content which could’ve gotten slowed down after Julie’s little twitter rant. But then I think Kennett content got much smaller since Kolvina happened soon after which was a slap in the face to Kennett shippers. Julie went on that rant, dating a vampire is so bad for a beautiful & kind witch yet Davina doesn’t have to abide by that rule. (Which ofc was another trend of TVD’s bonnie can’t be with…. Bc she’s black rule)

Going off the top of my head rn I’d say in terms of non-canon Bonnie’s larger ships would be Bamon/Bonkai/Klonnie/Stefonnie etc etc then Kennett after that bc of what Julie did/Kolvina. But tbh Kol became Klaus scraps. Idk why when you talk about this on other platforms people will say Klaus hated witches from the beginning when he’s clearly not above a sexual on/off thing even if the person does “wrong” to him @ Genevieve but season 2b of tvd Klaus had a type which was witches but after Kol exists and Klaroline suddenly Klaus doesn’t like them anymore until his situation with Genevieve.

But your assessment about some fans though isn’t inaccurate either. Some people are just scared of not being seen as racist and since Bonnie fans kinda abandoned Kennett in a sense (some still write for it/post about it to be fair!) it’s just an easier ship for fans of other characters/ships to pick up on.

Like you said “see we put Bonnie with Kol! We aren’t like *insert hateful fan here* and it’s just a backup plan for whatever the main is. It’s kinda common or telling when Kennett doesn’t get as expanded on as other pairings in the fics.

Hey girl! I don't know if you're aware, but in Klaus and kc fics where the oc is his wife from when they were human, somehow Marcel always calls her mom/mama/mother, which I personally so find out of character for him?

He had an awful father, and there's like only one mention of his mother, who died shortly before Klaus adopted him, and I just can't see a child moving on so quickly and calling a woman, a white one at that, his mother? Don't get me wrong, I would have loved for Marcel to have at least one parent figure in his life that actually loved him like a son, but Klaus treated him like a friend/brother, the governor literally enslaved him and we know nothing of his mother.

What do you think?

TO/TVDU made sure to sanitize slavery, Marcel’s history as a slave and limit his childhood with the mikaelsons period as much as they could. Then the audience they were marketing the show too was white teens/young adults. No I don’t think Marcel would ever call Klaus’ wife, mom! For the reasons you listed that is his past as a slave and living on a plantation. Naturally Marcel as a child should’ve been more skeptical of the Mikaelsons for the obvious reasons. Which could have been interesting to see. Hell, Kol did go as far to torture him as a human.

It is important to note Marcel never calls Klaus dad, Elijah/Kol/Finn aren’t called uncles, Rebekah/Freya as aunts and while he’s protective to Hope he doesn’t say she’s his sister either. Despite all of this Marcel does view the Mikaelsons as family. Marcel said to Hope it’s hard to hate the person that made him. It’s a never ending complicated relationship. Which applies to all of the family in total. I think Marcel can adapt to someone Klaus dates/married etc longterm but never see them as “mom”. He had a mother who died.

(Edit: I do think if they focused on Marcel being adopted, the Mikaelsons as extended family they’d have to address the Rebekah of it all.)

I think Klaus does love him in his own twisted perception of love. The problem as usual the racist writing but in Klaus/Marcel’s case..the gender norms here. Marcel being a grown man of 170+ years at that. Hope was a girl.
