Sword

-Thinks they're so interesting, asks you a hundred questions about them. Is it because of your gear? Do you have any family with similar horns? Are they more sensitive? Less?

-You might not be able to really answer all of them but it's worth it if only because of how he looks at them with such reverence. Is always super gentle if you let him touch them at all.

Skateboard

-Thinks they're sick as hell. Also asks a bunch of questions, he's curious! He's never seen anyone like you before. He's a lot more anxious to try skating with you because of them, actually. While he obviously wouldn't want you to get hurt, crystal horns or not, he's hovers a lot more whenever you step onto a board. Has his hands up and ready to catch you at any second.

-Likes feeling them a lot, if they happen to be a little sharp / rocky it makes him feel a little softer. They remind him of how bumpy and cracked his own horns are from falling and fighting so much.

Biograft (platonic)

-It's ... a peculiar sight. They don't have anything in their databases about this sort of thing. They're less likely to ask you questions and more likely to just inspect them themselves whenever they get a chance.

-You end up learning a little yourself! Mostly because they go through the effort of trying to identify exactly what minerals your horns are derived from. It's honestly pretty fun all around.

Ban Hammer

-Another admirer, he spends a lot of time just looking at them. He's not super familiar with gemstones and identifying them, so he can't help out much there, but he can definitely tell you they're gorgeous. Which he does, frequently.

-Honestly a little convinced you're related to some other branch of deities he's never heard of. Jokingly interrogates you about it but he's got an eye on you .. (kidding. mostly.)

Katana

-Yeah no shocker here he adores them. Guy who retreated into the region that loves its nature the most after a life of pain yeah no he's normal, for sure. Jokes aside, he really does love admiring them.

-Loves running his fingers over the grooves of them and seeing how light reflects off of them, how he can just barely make out the sky or blossoming trees behind you through them.

Rocket

-A little freaked out over it at first because how? If it's related to your gear in some way, he's more inclined to brush it off but otherwise, he's just kind of baffled. Are they prosthetics? Are you related to a deity? Is it a curse?

-He keeps his questions to himself unless you catch him eying them up. It's a pretty nice way for you to get some time together, him asking questions you may or may not be able to answer while he carefully looks them over.

Slingshot

-Another who keeps his questions to himself. Was a little at a loss for words when you first walked into the cafe. If you're a regular and make some small talk with him, there's a good chance he'll say a hundred 'don't take this the wrong way, i'm sorry if im not supposed to ask' before he tries asking any questions.

-Thinks they're very pretty and very interesting. The way they twinkle in the lights of the cafe or reflect the sunset through a window at his apartment is unbeatable.

Hyperlaser

-Also wonders if they're prosthetics of any kind. Another who's particularly careful with them. He knows firsthand how much it sucks to lose a horn, the last thing he wants is for you to trip and have them completely shatter on you.

-May be a little more defensive of you as a result. He's already naturally pretty protective of a partner, your situation just makes it doubly so.

Scythe

-Well, aren't you just a sight for sore eyes? She might've had less than pure intentions when she first approached you at that bar, but what you don't know can't hurt you, can it?

-Another who spends a lot of time looking. Rest assured, she'll make sure you have a wardrobe fit for a god, all complimentary colors and headpieces made to emphasize them. You're a catch, a one in a million, and she'll make sure everyone knows it and that you're hers. Can't have anyone else getting any ideas.

Medkit

-Convinced its a curse at first. While he's never seen someone with crystal horns before, he's seen a few inphernals with horns affected by their gears and figures you might be in a similar situation.

-Regardless if you are or not, he keeps a close eye on them. While some crystals certainly take a good amount of pressure before they start to crack, who's to say your horns are made of that kind of mineral? Expect a lot of him inspecting and feeling them at night, it becomes a part of your guys' routine pretty quickly.

Boombox

-Loves, loves, loves them. Thinks they're absolutely gorgeous. Loves whenever you show up to his shows especially, all the lights look even better with your horns reflecting them.

-Incorporates a little bit more of crystals in his attire, he doesn't go overboard with it (he's got bills to pay, unfortunately ...) but there's just enough that people notice the change. He's more than happy to explain he's just representing his partner, should any interviewer ask.

Subspace

-Sorry you're about to be so annoyed. He messes with them constantly, running little tests to see what you do and don't react to. He'll tap or brush them then ask if you can feel it- You don't have any blood vessels in there, it's a fair question! Always quick to explain that he's just looking because it might help with some of his research, that's all. Don't take the special attention to mean anything. (It does)

-Another one who gets a little more defensive, especially if they happen to not be as durable. He's already withering away from his own condition, the last thing he needs is for your horns to erode from a little rain and end up getting you sick or worse. It's a good thing he's done work in synthesizing some kind of crystal, isn't it?..

Vine Staff

-Yeah she thinks you're cursed but like, it's her of all people. Have some mercy. Regardless of if you are or not, she's very very careful around you and keeps a close eye on you just to be safe. She doesn't ask many questions, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care or like them!

-She does think they're very pretty. If you're comfortable with it, she would definitely twine some flowers or ribbons around them. She likes the way they're reflected in the crystals and how the decoration ties you two together in a way.

Coil

-Another one who's a little suspicious, has plenty of questions to ask you about them. Were you born with them? Are they because of your gear? Did someone make them for you?

-Once you get through all the questions, he does take special care of them similar to Medkit. He's got plenty of experience dealing with cracked and scratched horns and he's willing to do as much research as needed to see how that might translate to you. He's not much a gemologist, but he'll give it his best shot. Always very careful whenever dealing with them, whether that just be looking at them or wrapping them.

Internet Findings: I'm in the mood for some fun, we'll do all why not. This'll be headcanons-ish for them though, hope you're alright with that anon because it's only three for each [END SEARCH]

Melee

Sword

🗡 - Sword only meant to sit down for a second after a rigorous training session, you watching him with rapt attention that oozed adoration from each move he expertly followed through. It reminded you of ballet in a way, how each twist he did was graceful and elegant... Almost elegant anyway, he did trip a few times which prompted you to ask if he was fine.

🗡 - When he finally sat down, you leaned against him after a few minutes of chatting, him getting lost in some of the precise techniques he's been trying to master while his hands try and map them out for you. "Get this! Venomshank didn't even tell me about that one- I just thought of it myself, wanted you to be the first to see..." Sword trailer off after a while.

🗡 - You'd think it'd take him a while to notice you passed out on his shoulder, but he actually doesn't. He gives you a kiss to your forehead though, and nestles a bit closer to you for his own resting period. Unfortunately though, he has also realized that he's gonna need to get up soon, so hopefully you're almost done with your nap!

Skateboard

🛹 - Oh Skateboard, if he isn't going what feels like fifty miles and hour and doing tricks that could count as literal dangers. Kinda a menace, but it's fineeeeee it's all gooodddd. Every once and a while you join in on his havoc spree by skateboarding along with him down Craterdust Capital, or the less densely populated parts of Crossroads.

🛹 - It was only after a long ride with the guy did you start to feel a bit more winded then usual, your eyes fluttering a bit as you called out to him to take a small break so you could catch your breath and maybe grab a bite. Skateboard wasn't really one to deny that (especially if it meant a more playful date with you to grab some food), so he agreed pretty quickly.

🛹 - It felt almost picturesque how you slumped on Skateboard's shoulder, the sun setting just so as he took a swig of his drink. It wss something sugary, but it was more so a dull sensation to his already overactive nerves off of you leaning against him. He didn't know if he should wake you up? Let you rest? He'll wake you in five minutes was his eventual answer, but for right now he was letting the moment crystallize and form into something he'd never forget no matter what.

Katana

♦️ - Katana can be... Still. Very still, and while he sees it as a virtue of his to let the time pass until it's right to strike, others see it more so as a small hassle to navigate around. He can be persistent, what can I say? That's why he loves you all the more that you appreciate his way of words, and all of his more reserved nature, bit I'm getting off topic here.

♦️ - Katana was doing some thinking of what he wishes to do late one night, his mind wandering through the possibilities of the future he so desperately wishes to grasp at and hold into his clawed hands, before the Church always found its way into his life. It was only when you plopped down besides him that he snapped out if it, and exchanged a few words that were lost in the air.

♦️ - When you fell asleep from the comforting quiet, Katana got more stiff with his posture. He didn't move that much beforehand with this sort of tranquility that seemed to wash over him, but now he made sure you could sleep soundly while he stayed up just a bit longer. It's funny, but you seem to let his thoughts refocus into the here and now, and how he can cherish and protect you in this moment no matter what comes between you both.

Ban Hammer

🔨 - Ban Hammer doesn't really see you too often because of the whole Warden of what's probably the worst place in the Inpherno, but he tries to make up for it whenever he sees you. Whether that's crushing you with hugs, or smothering you in kisses, or just being his lovable self (both an annoyance and also a compliment somehow.).

🔨 - One of those days where he hasn't come back in a while and very visibly stress out of his mind from the inmates, he practically melted when he got back to you and held you in his arms, "Mhmmmmm... Miss this from ya hon." Ban Hammer mumbled out, his arms wrapped around you as much as possible.

🔨 - The whole falling asleep thing was really just because he's incredibly warm, and he felt so cozy you just had to take the chance and get some rest with him by your side. He might tease you and say that you find him such an irresistible pillow to snooze on, but he won't be able to deny how it genuinely made him smile, and hold you closer to his chest so you could relax.

Biograft

💥 - Biografts are made to be utilized and given orders. What good are they if they can't do something done well and right? Biograft was specifically programmed to help the scientists of Blackrock, and specifically do the tasks of Subspace if it was applicable (or he made them do it, cough cough).

💥 - "I CAN NOT MOVE FROM MY POSITION." Biograft spoke out clearly, its staticy voice not ever breaking as they gave a subtle motion to your form resting on their own metallic one. They've been sitting for so long waiting for a task, when wouldn't you know it? You plopped down right next to it and got way too cozy when the inevitable sleep happened.

💥 - Biograft gave another even "AFFIRMATIVE. I AM UNABLE TO MOVE AT THIS TIME, PLEASE ASK LATER WHEN I CAN COMPLETE A TASK." It knew you needed sleep, being well versed in the status of rest and why it was so beneficial as a person, so they would deny any sort of interaction as long as you were resting. Hopefully the other scientists don't mind as much right?

Ranged

Rocket

💣 - This was actually just a very affectionate day you were having to your beloved partner, wishing for Rocket to know just how much you appreciate him, and know that he's your favorite person in the whole world. Sure it was causing him to scoff and brush your words off like nothing, but with the day he was having after working at the shop with Zuka? This was much appreciated in small ways.

💣 - Rocket didn't really hear the way your voice started to drop and get lower after a long time of cuddling with him and tracing your hands over his face in kind adoration, but he did feel you lean a bit more into him after. "I'm not that much of a pillow am I?" Rocket joked, but you didn't hear the way his laugh got lighter all from being by your side.

💣 - It only was a short amount of time before Rocket picked up the fact that you've fallen asleep next to him, and he snapped out of the more snarky facade to instead try and position you more gently. He really doubted that you wanted to be asleep on his prosthetic arm, since it was kindaaa difficult to rest on because of the metallic edge of it. Once he was sure you were comfortable, he got close to you and didn't even say a word about it when you woke, simply content to be near you.

Slingshot

🍰 - Oh Slingshot... Does he even sit down long enough to actually allow you some rest? He always looked like he was just raring to go once he slipped on his sneakers, and could run miles before he tapped out. Not to say he was irresponsible with that sort of speed per say, he just had lots of things to do and upkeep was no joke for himself... Which is why you volunteered at Thieves' Rest for the day!

🍰 - Honestly, you probably would never again tease him for sometimes being a bit cranky or just generally out of it with what you've had to face in his café. While Slingshot told you it's fine and he's just happy you appreciate him / show so much support, you wanted to help the guy deeper by volunteering there for a bit! Unfortunately you have also realized that WOW these people get nuts without their confections.

🍰 - You both sat down in a small, yet quaint break room Slingshot set up, his smile wide as he gave a kiss to your cheek, "Great job for doing so much, it did help me out a ton!" You were already nodding off from the strain of it a bit, so Slingshot didn't mind that you fell asleep on his arm when you both sat down. He did wait a bit to make sure you're fine, and went back to work with Shuri and Vine.

Hyperlaser

☄️ - Hyperlaser doesn't really have the vocabulary to know what "rest" is like, or at least that's what you joked about with him many times. His mercenary job doesn't allow too much down time for him to relax with you or Princess, as much as he would like to get cozy and pet the lovable cat.

☄️ - Well, it seemed like the Swords graced him with a few minute window before he was back up on his feet again and ready to start tracking the next target. He realized incredibly quickly when you started to drift off on him, his arms loosening their hold of you with a sigh of tender affection, his visor obscuring the smile on his face from how cute you are.

☄️ - Although he couldn't particularly stay with you for your little nap, you did wake up a while later to feel a warm blanket over you, and a note detailing how Hyperlaser would be back soon after he finished up some... "Problems" Blackrock was running into. How sweet, yet if course you could ignore the eerie undertone those problems were referring to.

Shuriken

🌿 - Shuriken is tired, and everyone can see that. Most don't bat an eye to the reasons why (to be fair, he doesn't really tell people of his secret identity as the Silver Shadow) and instead go on about their lives with maybe a question if he's doing fine. Usually it's totally ok, and he gets through the day without fail of even taking a nap. Not this time though.

🌿 - He came back after a short trip around Crossroads as his mysterious alter ego, the darkness engulfing him a soft comfort to the harsh neon lights that were glare from what felt like all angles. What a surprise it was to see you, reading a book and waiting for him on the small couch he shares with his family. He kindaaa forgot you said that you'd visit him, but it wasn't so bad since you already knew about the identity situation.

🌿 - Shuriken also didn't mean to sit down next to you so long, his five minute rest to regroup and think of who to help next turned into watching you get close to him and fall asleep on his shoulder, his weary eyes softening under the low light. It only took him a few seconds before he joined you in rest, arm around you and tight to make sure you're protected.

Scythe

👁 - Have I ever said how cool that mechanical arm Scythe has is? No? Well I'm saying it now, because it is so sick. You think so too, and the amount of times Scythe herself has caught you tracing along the gold details on it, or seeing the grooves it had on her upper forearm. Quite enchanting, and Scythe almost glowed with pride every time you did that to her.

👁 - Well, this was one of those times you got so deep into the circular motions your fingers made on each mechanism that kept it into place, the way her fingers would clench and unclench like a rhythmic procedure only she knew how to direct and flow... It wasn't long before you passed out soundly by her side, hands still on her arm in rapt attention.

👁 - Now of course Scythe knew that you fell asleep, she actually thought it was really cute that you lulled yourself to a resting point all by just running your fingers along her own arm, and she really had to stop the small chuckle that would escape her throat by that thought alone. "Get some good rest, darlin'." Scythe hummed, kissing your forehead as she made sure you wouldn't be messed with in your sleep.

Medkit

💉 - You already know Medkit, his nightmares plague him constantly and it's almost more frequent that he snaps out of his dreams with nothing more than a tired sigh before he tries to go back to sleep as soundly as possible, or stays up for the rest of the night with some coffee to greet the rising sun.

💉 - You were giving some comfort to him after one of these bad nights of his, never pressing him to speak more than what he wished to say over the swirling miasma of wakefulness and dizzy haze of sleep that still pulled at his eyelids. He felt so bad that you woke up in response to his more sporadic tossing and turning, but you assured him that you don't mind, and that you just want to help him get through this no matter the cost of your sleep. He means the world to you, and you have no clue what he'd do for you in return.

💉 - You were more tired than you realized, so as much as you wished to be up with him longer to talk and watch the stars dip into the early morning sky, you needed sleep. You did fall back to sleep right on his arm, and Medkit couldn't help the way his heart clenched at the sight of your face so peacefully in rest. It wasn't long after he joined you, his arms even in his dreams wrapped securely around you to Gove you warmth in some way.

Boombox

🎵 - Boombox absolutely loved music, that is no surprise when you see the following he's built up all by his own musical prowess. Now, of course you absolutely support him through and through with his journey, but you do remind him to take breaks when applicable or desperately needed.

🎵 - Well, on one of the days you wanted to help Boombox out with the mixing and a few of the instrumentation of his latest song, you didn't realize just how late into the night you'd be going at it. Sure there was more up tempo beats in the background, but all the energy was starting to seriously wear you down to the point of exhaustion...

🎵 - Boombox smiled gently at you, finally taking off his visor and letting his eyes be seen for once in so long that he's been up. You were sleeping peacefully by his side, Boombox starting to make sure his and your work was saved and ready for another day as he shut everything off. Maybe it was time for rest now anyway, he felt his eyes start to droop by the second.

Subspace

💊 - Another one of those lengthy research / experimentation days, you could definitely clock when Subspace was getting more and more into the "Mad scientist" zone by taking one glance at his posture and how he conducted himself with his fellow peers (that he swore were below him on so many levels), and how he interacted with his object of intrigue.

💊 - It was more so by chance, and admittedly some deep worry, that you ran into Subspace in his lab, tinkering with the newest project of his that you heard the mutterings would "Change Blackrock as we know it!!". While it sounded great and all, you wanted to make sure he wasn't losing his mind from being so deep into his findings that he didn't talk to someone else, and that he was also taking care of himself by proxy.

💊 -"BIOGRAFT!!! Fetch the blankets and pillows for my dearest here!!" Although shrill, Subspace did have the presence of mind to try and keep his voice down so you could doze sweetly by his side. Subspace muttered something about how slow the hunk of metal is getting, before snatching the blankets and such when the robot came over.

Vine Staff

🌸 - Vine Staff's curse works in very mysterious ways, well to others that is. She has the tendency to grow different plants on her wooden arm for a bit as a small hobby of hers, and not to mention the whole light communing with the flora she comes across?? Over the moon you are for your wonderful partner, and you make sure she's not embarrassed by her curse despite the unfortunate circumstance to be born with it.

🌸 - Vine Staff was steadily growing some flowers on her arm, being careful to not overdo it and cause a strain on herself in the mid afternoon sun. You were beside her and watching with wide eyes, seeing sparks of color before blooming into a pastel pink shade, lavenders curling along her fingertips as she gave a deep inhale. "There we go..." Vine Staff spoke out with a sigh, happy to have been able to control it a bit more.

🌸 - With all the floral scents, you got so cozy next to her that it was almost second nature (ha) to have fallen asleep with the perfume scents of roses and daffodils hitting your lungs. Vine Staff found it cute, and although she planned to give you the bouquet she grew, she just made a mental note to give it later when you woke up.

Coil

💎 - With the crystal stealing Coil does, he makes sure he doesn't come by your place when either Subspace's own metal scraps are chasing him, or something else equally annoying is on his tail. He may not take much seriously, but your safety? He's not dense, he knows when to not press his luck in getting caught or not.

💎 - After a long time of getting chased around and hitting blows to Biografts, Coil finally found a period where he could maybe get a break and sit with you for a short while. Now that's where he is now, sitting next to you and gloating about how starry-eyed you would have gotten if you just saw the sick tricks he pulled off on a Biograft's head. "Pfttt, it was hilarious! Didn't even get a claw on me." Coil flexed his arms, prompting you to laugh in response of his antics.

💎 - You both talked for so long, he almost didn't catch you drifting off to sleep. Maybe it wss the way you just... Trusted him so easily despite the bravado he put on as a front, but it really made some part of him melt in your sleepy embrace. The infamous Hellhound might as well get some rest himself right?

a little while ago, i made a bet that if i passed my university interview and got accepted, i’d draw reader straddling a messily dressed hyperlaser while tugging on his tie.

and… since i successfully got accepted, i’ve finally completed that drawing… !

DISCLAIMER: SUGGESTIVE ART UTC ( nothing explicit but like. reader’s straddling him. kinda. i think. weird anatomy and perspective idk. )

if i’m being honest this is not my proudest work, i feel like the sketch looked better and i accidentally made the rendering too muddy with my brush. it’s so over 🥲

anyways this was NOT FUN TO DRAW i had to go on call with my art major friend for help with the anatomy and half way through the piece my rendering style changed and everything was just a. disaster.

i'm honestly not a big fan of drawing suggestive art and this made me very embarrassed but honestly i'm willing to do anything for uni so. worth it i guess. i wanted to clear this out of my to do list since i did make a promise lol.

some drabbles about hyperlaser loving you, real short and sweet.

wk: 754 a/n: at the end!

hyperlaser is known to be the greatest mercenary in all of blackrock. he’s stone cold and isn’t quick to anger. he has this chilling attitude that does nothing but immerse you. he thinks it should terrify you instead.

but fear doesn’t come. you follow him around and offer so much undying love and affection as his partner, he doesn’t know what to do. as experienced as he is on the field, he’s…almost shy when it comes to you.

you notice it when he awkwardly tugs on your sleeve, or stands a bit too close to you during dinner time. his helmet pokes behind your ear, and you hear an audible sigh just before he scurries away. it could all mean nothing, you try to insist, but it’s hard to think that when he’s basically asking for attention. and most of the time, you can hear his heart quicken when you give it to him. of course, you tease him about it to no end.

on days where the two of you are far from home, he’ll lead you somewhere more secluded. he’ll tap his visor, glass clinking against the touch, and tilt his head, asking for a kiss. it’s an understatement to how cute it is, and you wonder when he got so soft. you wonder if anyone else gets to see this side of him.

the answer is no. hyperlaser is beyond secretive when it comes to his personal life. you’ve heard plenty of crazy predictions that other inphernals have made about his life outside of work. things like animals are afraid to approach him, or that all he does is train ruthlessly with little regard for civilians. sharpening his skills to be the most pristine mercenary in all of crossroads.

while the rumors don’t come from nonsense, it’s funny to think of him like that when he’s cuddling in your bed, sleeping soundly. his arms are limp and unsure where to position themselves without you there.

he likes to hold your hand the most, and press it against his chest. feeling that you’re alive and there with him is enough to secure all his worries, and relax a little bit.

he’d hate for anything bad to happen to you, and often walks home a little faster just to see you safe and sound. taking riskier shortcuts, nearly crashing into other inphernals, or (on rare occasion) even cutting conversations short with clients. you’d scold him if you ever found out about it.

hyperlaser loves it when you’re close to his face, your nose against his helmet. with you taking up his vision, it’s like you’re the only thing in the world that matters. he can almost forget about his job as a mercenary, and instead be yours and yours alone. what he’d do to only serve you instead would be a dream come true. he’d do it free of charge. just stay by his side, is all he’d ask.

dates with the mercenary are usually in the comfort of your own home. it’s the safest, you both agree. but for occasions and if you really want something new, he’ll spoil you with somewhere fancy. anything you want from the shop downtown? he’s bought out half the catalogue. you briefly mention a trinket you liked from the window? he surprises you with it at the end of the date. a demon with a job like his surely has a lot of money to spend. he’s not one to splurge, and what better way to spend his wallet than the one he loves most?

obviously the rich expenses leave you dizzy. and if anything, he could just intimidate others into getting something for you if he lost his wallet that night. (he’d never, but if things really came down to it…)

you try to splurge on him too, but he insists that he doesn’t want anything. other than to just see you well and happy. though, after multiple complaints on how that wasn’t a real gift, the two of you come to a compromise.
