As day gives way and twilight's whisper nears, I seek your comfort to allay my fears, Through the calm silence, I beseech your aid, Grant me the gift of sleep, in cool shadows laid. When I feel connected to Hypnos…

The warmth and draw of my bed in the morning.

Those last few moments before falling asleep.

Daydreaming, but thinking about nothing at the same time.

Feeling my body fully relax in a hot bath.

Hi! Do you know anything about working with the greek god hypnos? You mentioned him in one of your underworld powder posts, and I'm interested in working with him so I thought i'd ask! Thanks!

Hi there! I’m flattered to be asked!I have worked with Him personally before. He is a daimon (as in spirit, not Christian-style demon) closely tied to Thanatos, god of death (i.e. twins in many portrayals). This isn’t to say that sleep equals death but more than there is a kinship of peace between sleep and death itself. 

My favorite Hellenic resource, Theoi.com, has some great stories and associations for Hypnos to help someone considering worship of Him.

I’m not a specific devotee of Him though, so if any of followers are or know someone who is, do feel free to speak up and share!

Also if you have a specific question regarding him, anon, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer.
