You don’t wanna play Cheryl Blossom as a lesbian? You say its okay to play her differently because she’s ‘not lesbian in the comics’? fine! Go ahead! BUT FUCKING DON’T SAY ITS HER FROM THE SHOW SAY ITS HER FROM THE COMICS. PLS DON’T SAY SHE’S CANON-DIVERGENT FROM THE SHOW BECAUSE TAKING AWAY HER SEXUALITY IS LIKE MISGENDERING A TRANS* CHARACTER TO BE CIS ITS OFFENSIVE. wanna use someone that ppl will recognize as Cheryl? HERE’S THE COMICS TO CAP AND READ (just be warned ads on there get really nsfw) or check out @peppermintstranger for some other redhead options. But bashing lesbians who are speaking up about the underlying homophobia within not letting Cheryl be lesbian on here is not okay. In fact, its just as homophobic. Why? Because you are speaking over a demographic that is routinely and systematically talked over/erased/sexualized/ignored in the RPC and IRL. Lesbians should not have to be afraid or reluctant to play characters with their orientation in fear of not getting interaction because of it. IDGAF if you’re bi, pan, het, or any other sexuality outside of lesbian, if your page is full of ‘i’m accepting and supportive of everyone and all orientations! uwu’ type stuff, then only M/M or F/M pairings? I call absolute BULL-FUCKING-SHIT. That’s HH, Hypocritical Homophobia (or Homophobic Hypocrisy, either one works well) and i don’t want to have you on my dash. As a nonbinary person who writes a nonbinary character, i’ve dealt with similar issues in people not wanting to write with Jay because they don’t see ship potential EVEN IF I DON’T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT A SHIP. Or, people saying they’re much less likely to write ships with NB character ‘because reasons’. If you’ve had bad experiences with a NB or lesbian character being force shipped with yours, you can work past that cos woooooooooo boi force shipping is not great but once it happens you can pick up the signs of it and IDK... be mature and actually stop someone instead of being petty and passive or passive aggressive? TALK TO PEOPLE WORK SHIT OUT ITS EASY AND I CAN GIVE PEOPLE DBT TIPS ON INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS IF NEED BE. seriously, IM me if you want them and i’ll get them for you.
