“Baby’s favorite place is the cemetery
Said she comes from a line of witches, it’s hereditary
Put a spell on me, every other bitch is secondary
I’d even kill for my baby if it was necessary”

Hypokrit turns vulnerability into strength on “IM NXT XKAY”
by SLIM HALPERT
What allows an artist to truly connect with their fans? Most would say it comes to an ability to connect with them. What better way to connect than to be vulnerable and allow people to see you at your worst. Hypokrit finds himself in familiar waters with “IM NXT XKAY”. The beat comes on so subtly and the acoustic sounds of the guitar really setup the warmth that accompanies even the saddest emotions, when they are channeled with honesty Hypokrit provides. The vocals are a slight departure from what he typically delivers, and I say slight because he has shown this approach before but never throughout an entire song. The ability to be daring and choose vocals that would be harder to get right shows another level of vulnerability that you just don't find in every other artist.
The content of the song is all about losing what you love and the inevitable pain that comes with it. The lines “if you see her again will you let her know, I know I was wrong I'm an asshole” and “Im not okay but its okay” sum up the theme of the song perfectly, the theme of being resigned to sadness. To being broken and instead of healing you learn to cope with the pain. His fans love him because he exposes himself and shares everything with them. He didn't need a massively complicated beat, features, or over produced vocals. Hypokrit created a song that goes deep because he refused to let it be inflated.
