A heaping helping of examples of the Epitrochoid and Hypotrochoid tools coming in Tux Paint 0.9.32. These are the kinds of curves you get when you draw with a device like a "Spirograph" or "Wondergraph". (Roulette curves; specifically, centered trochoids.)
A hypotrochoid is a roulette traced by a point P attached to a circle of radius b rolling around the inside of a fixed circle of radius a, where P is a distance h from the center of the interior circle. The parametric equations for a hypotrochoid are:
x=(a-b)cost + hcos[(a-b)t/b] y=(a-b)sint + hsin[(a-b)t/b]

Many little hands, many giant drawing machine drawings! I had a blast bringing my Giant Pantograph and Bicycle Spirograph activities to University College School Pre-Prep in Hampstead, London, on Wednesday, coordinated by Artists In Schools. Year 1 and 2 boys got to draw big sand Spirograph patterns, miniature outlines of their bodies, multicoloured Spirographs with a single-speed child’s bike, and little Spirographs with bike gear sprockets and laser-cut wheels. This was my first drawing machines gig since the pandemic, and my first time driving solo in the big city. It went brilliantly. Want to book me at your school or science/art event? Two of my tabletop Bicycle Spirograph drawing machines at National Festival of Making this weekend in Blackburn. Their first proper outing since before the pandemic! They were a little rusty but still worked fine. Many colourful geometric flower patterns were drawn. It was nice to show these older pieces alongside my new record player phenakistoscope animation workshop. Both explore rotational phase patterns and hypnotic art in different ways.
