Why hadn’t I done this sooner?

I checked the directions one last time as I started the engine of my trustworthy and fuel efficient Honda Civic, Chad. 

I had made the decision to do more things alone. To actively work on this fear of mine. The fear of doing things by myself. A pretty lame fear to be honest, but one that I needed to over come and so I committed to doing this alone; I committed to following through; and I did. And it was very serene and very relaxing and at the end of the day had me thinking, 

“why hadn’t I done this sooner?”

New Year, New Me?

I haven’t posted anything since August of last year.

That is incredibly strange to say and it’s really hard to believe that it is already 2015. 

Having just finished one of the most emotionally draining quarters at school (academically) i’m sad to say that I have to head back only one week of leisure time with the family. That being said I am incredibly lucky to have lived another year and to have found so many people that I care so deeply about. 

I don’t necessarily feel as if this transition into the new year is anything special other than another notch on the wall, so I haven’t felt the need to make any serious resolutions that I won’t keep. 

But taking more time to focus on staying healthy physically, emotionally, and mentally is a goal at the top of my list.

I don’t know how that will happen and I don’t know what this year will bring just yet, but I intend to find out and take each moment, challenge, surprise and opportunity in stride. 

So instead I say, "New Year, Same Me." Just a little more confident, a little less naive, and taking myself a little less seriously.

Tomorrow is my first day of work and I am utterly mortified.
