I’m gonna be honest, if the next ch proves that Kitae is the superior one( in any way) then it really just suggests that you don’t even need to read the story anymore. You can just follow whatever happens in the moment. And I’m not even saying this just because I’m a James fan. Anyone who has read the manhwa from the beginning to the latest ch can clearly see how James has been portrayed. The story has pushed his narrative for so long. Yeah, people can call him a narrative merchant, and honestly, I can’t even fully deny that point anymore. But if you’ve been building up a character for years only for Gapryong’s random sperm-spawn to suddenly appear and become James’ equal in such a forced and one-sided way, then what was the point of all that buildup?

On one hand, I do agree that Kitae was probably one of the people who gave Gapryong a serious fight. But people forget James himself said there were multiple people involved. And James was, what, 15/16/17 at the time? There’s obviously context there.

The whole James and Kitae are equals thing honestly feels pushed mostly by annoying shippers or powerscalers who already dislike James.

What really frustrates me is how the story has progressed. And you can’t even call me stupid for thinking this, because the narrative itself made it seem that the legends of each generation were supposed to be something extraordinary. Gapryong only had Shingen as his true rival, and even then Shingen lost. Daniel’s generation basically has Johan as the only one who can truly rival him. But with James? Somehow everyone is suddenly better than him.

And it’s not even just about strength anymore. Kitae is getting more depth, more fights, more presence, more weight behind everything he does. Meanwhile James — a character who has been here since the start — still feels hollow even in the latest chs.

Kitae genuinely has more impact right now than James. More fights and relevance. And now you can slowly see PTJ pivoting more toward Kitae vs Gun instead of James vs Gun. As always, the audience eats it up instantly.

At this point it doesn’t just feel like the story constantly shits on the same character, it also feels like a huge fuck you to the fans who actually cared about him.

It’s just painful at this point 🥀 I am tired.
