If you have a question related to ANYTHING, IB or otherwise, direct it to teen-to-twenty-advice. This blog is CLOSED. IT IS DONE. IT IS AN ARCHIVE OF INFORMATION. DO NOT SEND ANY QUESTIONS HERE. GO TO teen-to-twenty-advice INSTEAD. It is still run by me and is NO DIFFERENT from this one except that it answers more than just IB-related questions.
Send all asks/questions/etc. on any fucking topic to teen-to-twenty-advice. That is my active advice blog. This one is the archive.
If you can’t figure out how to do that, you don’t deserve to have your question answered.
Since some people are unbelievably dense, I’m thinking of just turning this blog into the kind of thing that the active one is currently (aka change the name, theme, etc. to make it fit general advice). Problem is, this blog is great as an IB-only archive, especially because it is largely untagged. The name also attracts IB students (appropriately) while the other does not, although it is an IB ask blog as well. IB students might not care about any other topics but are just keeping this blog in their follows as a reference for previously given advice. Which is totally fine and smart of them. Especially since people tend to ask the same god damn questions over and over anyway even though a simple skim of the blog’s archive would reveal many answers to their identical problems.
Turning this blog into a more generalized advice blog thematically would damage the organization of this blog as it currently stands and force me to do a TON of reworking that I just don’t want to do. Like relinking “about page” details, extra pages, URLs etc. I’m not sure why people are choosing to be delusional morons and are still asking questions here, but maybe it would be easier for me to board the idiot train rather than try to push it off the tracks. I’m not sure what I want to do yet but I do know that I’m really fucking annoyed at the idiocy of some frickin people and I’ve got a good mind to just be stubborn and never bring this blog back to truly active because of the impressive number of idiots I’ve had to interact with because of it (although I’ve also been able to interact with some amazing, kind, intelligent, ambitious students as well, and that has been amazing). I mean, overall it’s not a big deal at all, it’s just a god damn annoyance that goes on day after day after day.
Some background info: I used to run 3 different advice blogs, and teen-to-twenty-advice is my attempt to put all of them in one place (since they all cover the same theme of people asking me for advice on slightly different topics). I dunno. Maybe it was the organization of these previous blogs which led to their success, and by thrusting them all together into one blog I’m expecting too much from people. I don’t know. But what I do know is that running 3 different advice blogs is a huge pain in the ass that could be solved by having just one. UGH.
I know I’m blowing this tiny issue out of proportion, but I’m just not sure what step to take. Do I pick the one that will have me pulling my hair and teeth out because I know it’s the one others will understand best and will best benefit from? Or do I pick the one that takes a considerable strain off of myself but requires people to not be idiots (an impossible task)?
The reason I made this blog, in particular, in the first place, was because when I was in IB I was desperate for help from students who had already graduated from the program and could answer my millions of tiny questions that I could not find the answers to online. However, this blog has turned more into me reassuring people that they can do anything they set their minds to, which is nice in its own way and totally true, but really suggests that there is no reason for this blog to be about IB. The advice I give people is often advice I could give to anyone not in IB as well. Plus, the IB-specific questions are getting harder to answer as I move further away from being an IB student (I’m now a senior in college) and things back in the world of high school are changing considerably.
I guess what I really needed was to get this rant out of my system. The question at the end of the day is this: What should I do with this blog? And how did this all get so complicated?
