Y'all my observance is piss poor. Like I can't keep kosher to the degree I would like and I do not keep Shabbat virtually at all (I don't launder or write on Shabbat and that's about it, save for any creative work I put off until Sunday). Like I want to connect more. And I only pray once a day, that needs to change.
I let so much slip when I got sick again. Which is an awful excuse but that's what happened.
So I think I'm gonna try adding in one extra prayer a day (whether it be an extra shema or a sitting Amidah due to my pain and dizziness). And try to pull back from the phone on shabbes. Maybe challenge myself to one phone free Shabbat. And see how that feels.
So I have some questions for folks if they want to answer:
-what do you do for fun on Shabbat? Like how do you keep Shabbat joyous while also following the rules? (I'm a conservative Jew for reference)
-how do you pray when you do stuff during the day? Like it sounds so nice in theory to take a minute out of a busy day to reconnect with G-d but practically. Like how are we reciting the Amidah in the middle of the day when we have places to be? This sounds like a silly question but I'm being dead serious.
- Do you think it's possible to keep a kosher kitchen living with gentiles? And being on a very strict budget? (I'm talking dollar store quality utensils and tongs and shit). Or is the kosher kitchen a future living-with-Jews goal? And also I get free meals from a charity a couple times a week and they're Christian so nothing they do is kosher.
