Undercover Miss Hong (2026)

Take "Reborn Rich", mix lightly with "Younger" and shake well, and you get a pretty fun premise. I liked the first half of this drama, and then I stopped (for now) because OMG too much corporate legal nonsense.

Maybe I can explain this better...

What Worked

The cast is really good. Park Shin-hye is really fun to watch, especially when she's angry, but also when she's trying (and failing) to pretend to be a cute ditz. Ha Yoon-kyung (who I really like) does her usual excellent work as a slightly grumpy foil for the main lead. Overall, I was excited and had fun through the first few episodes.

What Didn't Work

And then we got stuck in the mire of "fake corporate legal BS". I have decided I really don't like this type of thing, at least in dramas, and it takes an exceptional writer and a smart premise to make me sit through it. The problem, as best I can explain it, is that this finance and legal stuff IRL takes a long time to work out and is also not very interesting to watch. So the writer has to make all of this stuff up in order to have it work as a show, but 9 times out of 10 it just comes across as a fake "obstacle" that the main characters have to "overcome" rather than a real threat. The stakes are huge and fake, and you rarely learn anything new about the character, so all you're left with is fluffy manufactured drama, instead of interesting drama that plays to the character's strengths and weaknesses.

TL; DR:

This drama is definitely worth a try as it's well made and the cast is brilliant, but for me at least that wasn't enough to want to finish it.
