Anyone else sick of the 'big strong girlboss' Momo and 'omega weakling' Okarun trope that has become popular recently?
Yes!! Momo is often times short-tempered and quick to start a fight, but she is also feminine! She is gyaru! She likes girly things and does girly stuff! She wants to be treated like a woman instead of just an object!
This doesn't make her manly, or the boss of her and Okaruns relationship, or some type of overpowering female lead. She is strong in a way that still compliments her femininity. Just because she has a temper and doesn't take shit from others about her or her family doesn't automatically mean she's masculine or mean hearted. Women actually have emotions and personalities too! I don't know why I have to spell it out for some people!
Same with Okarun. I understand him being bullied has put a 'timid and weak' image into a lot of the fanbases heads, but is that really all we see in him? A little kid who can't stand up for himself? Does anyone remember when Hase literally got fucked up because Okarun got so mad he was calling Momo easy that he couldn't hold back his temper??? Okarun has so much more to him than what most people want to admit. It shows so painfully.
Yes, Okarun is still in a lot of cases submissive. Not in a way that makes him something less than a man, but because he is still in some ways unconfident. Especially early in the series when he is still getting used to being taken care of by a friend and adjusting to his newfound powers caused by a fucking SPIRIT!!!!!! Does that make him forever a femboy omega sub that can't do anything for himself? NO FUCKING WAY. HAVE YOU ALL FORGOTTEN ABOUT TURBOKARUN? HAVE ANY OF YOU GOT ANY CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS TO COMPREHEND WHY HE ACTS SO DIFFERENTLY IN HIS TURBO FORM???
Momo should be allowed to be a girl in fan media. She's a teenage girl with a crush that gives her butterflies and makes her kick her feet in excitement. She has interests and a distinct, girly style and gets shy when people she like tease her! Why boil her down to nothing but her anger? I find it so disheartening.
Let my babies be teenagers in peace without involving their wildly inaccurate tropes in their relationship.
