With the move drawing closer, my mom has admitted she’s feeling a little overwhelmed with the packing. However, I have a feeling her way of handling stress is to delegate it towards me, “reminding” me constantly of everything I need to do and focus on. Or criticising me for mistakes or things I haven’t gotten to yet. Or simply lamenting all the things we still need to do together. I don’t think she realises I’m not functioning at a 100% lately, simply because I don’t let it physically show. And she mistakes my brushing off of her stress as me not caring or being lazy or dismissive, when the truth is I don’t have the energy to spare for anything less than “the house is currently on fire.” as I’ve been feeling lately.

Oh I absolutely love the rain! The way it smells, when it hits and then seeps into the concrete after a really long drought. Did you know that smell has a name? I didn't until a couple of years ago, and now it's one of my favorite words - petrichor. Isn't that lovely? I'm originally from California, and I have family in AZ, so I totally understand the dry heat. It's often brutal. I live in Atlanta now, and I love it. I also LOVE musicals!
