It’s both sad and cute that when Magnus says “pretty boy” and Jace steps forward assuming Magnus means him, Alec LOOKS at Jace too. Which fine, yes, you could read it as part of Alec’s crush on Jace but honestly I think it has more to do with how little Alec thinks of himself physically and as a leader because Magnus was also asking for someone to be the authority figure and “get your team ready” and these first four episodes have shown that while he’s supposed to be in charge, no one actually listens to him. In fact, they’re constantly teasing him for trying to follow the rules and be responsible and then he gets yelled at when he calls them out on it after everything goes to shit. He doesn’t see himself as a leader so why would he think Magnus is talking about him???? 

In other news, I have too many feelings about Alec Lightwood and I want to DIE
