i went to england to visit the family of this boy im dating in birmingham. one of his sisters lived in manchester and his whole family kept being like we wish lila was her you would love her blah blah blah lila would just lobe you blah and I was finally like well why couldn’t she make it? everyone was like lol as we said she’s in manchester??? that’s it. i looked up the distance and it’s like less than two hours away and when me and my dude went to grab a beer later that night I was like so does Lila not get along with your parents like what’s up? again, he’s like babe I told you she’s in manchester. I was like are the villages at war????? he goes “it’s too far. this isn’t holiday.” I was like babe we’ve drivin 4-5 hours for weekend trips to the beach Im just confused- and he cuts me off and goes “that’s American me. We don’t do that here”

I need y’all’s help with a teacher thing again

So I’m doing something similar to the wall of black excellence I did two years where I printed the pictures of several prominent black figures to put in my classroom

This time I’m doing prominent queer figures throughout history and since I teach ancient civilizations, I want to include more figures from the ancient world or at least pre-1800s and I need more than Alexander the Great and Sappho. I’m also really struggling to find queer figures in Asian, African, and South American history.

And before anyone tries to mansplain it to me, I know damn well that our terms for sexual and gender identities would not apply to people of the ancient world and that a lot of the evidence used to interpret them as “queer” is only seen as such because we view it through a western lens.

That does not mean that these interpretations are less valid or meaningful to people (especially kids) who find something in common with their experiences from 800 years ago.

That being said here is the list I have so far

Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Also if there’s someone on the list that maybe shouldn’t be due to some harmful bullshit they pulled, lemme know and I will revisit the name.
