I finally found one of the Sweet Valley High magna edition books that I don’t have (the thicker ones that are technically part of the canon, but not part of a trilogy or duology within the actual series).

It’s The Wakefield Legacy: The Untold Story, one of the family saga books. I have all the others; I didn’t realize there were two Wakefield sagas.

Just for the fun of it...

Things Hellsing tried that were so good and unique and would make an actual quality story:

First of all abuse and explotation of people should be a main subject. Especifically the breaking of cycles of abuse and kill chain. Dracula as a main character for this makes such a good unique story and is sad Hellsing make a point for it and then just abandoned (But Hirano had to has his boobs i guess).

Alucard’s dadness towards Seras. I mean this is probably my favorite plot in the series. Just Dracula, this abuser that has always seen people as objects to be discarded with this long story for hurting women, taking this lower class, young, sweet, naive, kind, brave and idealistic girl and CARING about her. But CARING in the most pure way someone could care. He is never, not once (in the manga at least) predatory around her. Her turning is nothing but tragic but Alucard growing fond and learning to be a parent a benevolent if not awkward parent could have been beautiful to go into. Their moments of intimacy and familiarity in the middle of carnage are literally the best. They literally change Alucard.

Alucard relationship with Integra. I mean Hellsing is all about throwing Dracula into a bunch of situations that are so foreign to the character you cant avoid been terrible drawn to them. These two are probably the one that is more explored and yet there is so much that goes untold and  should have make for delightful dialogue: What does Alucard thinks about the abuse he was subjected to? What does Integra thinks about Alucard past crimes? Does she ever ask about all the pain he inflicted on people ON WOMEN? How does he feel about all that now?

Integra herself. I mean? REally? She is so terrible iconic and she deserves more...like less bloodshed more discussion about said bloodshed. She is so unique in the fact that she is a woman in a position of power and the whole story is about her relationship with different forces both allies and enemies and all the nuances in between. Her authority is unquestionable yet you can see she is a leader developing? You can sometimes realize how much of a little girl she is? The way Alucard tries to manipulate her sometimes? And sometimes he succeds? And the way she sometimes stops him in his tracks because ultimately everything that is Alucard influences is what makes her fail? Her cockiness ALUCARD, her arrogance ALUCARD her over confidence ALUCARD her glimpses of cruelty ALUCARD. But then Integra is at her best and Integra wins when she supports herself in her own humanity, when she cares about the lives of her soldiers, when she values human life, when she cuts herself of the war mongering trope. All these things would make for great story because Integra is such a complex yet generally loved female character which is so weird to see.

I mean HELLSING COULD BE SO GOOD AND NOT MEDIOCRE AND INTERESTING BECAUSE THE FUNDATIONS ARE THERE. The roots of an actually unique story are all over the place but NO because Hirano had to had his shit, his bloodshed, his macho supremacy, his unnecessary explotative garbage...his objetification of a girl that even in the story rejects said objetification.
