does eleven know how to sign?
i'm on mobile so no formatting but i rlly wanted to answer this! as of now, no, she doesn't. she probably has little idea of what sign language is, actually. it was never taught to her in the lab because it wasn't useful to b/renner and her ""training"" as a spy.
however, when she gets older, gains exposure to asl? she wants to learn, but.... jane has difficulty with fine motor skills. especially ones in sequences - so, she definitely learns common individual words and the alphabet, but she, unfortunately, still can't form full sentences and conversation with sign language.
it does, however, make her panic attacks a bit easier. she can't vocalize nearly at all during these - so before learning a bit of asl, she has to be talked through and someone has to ask her several yes or no questions that she can respond to with a nod or head shake, or she has to indicate it with her hands. the asl makes it easier for her to sign or spell out what exactly is wrong - she probably has specific signs for things she might otherwise have to spell out.
sign language is really more useful to her when someone else is using it. that might sound odd, but jane has trouble processing auditory things - she will repeatedly ask what a person has said or mishears what they say. the asl makes it easier for her to process and respond to what people are saying.
