Another (longer) post that’s percolating in my head: people often go on about how myths/stories are constantly being re-interpreted, re-invented, etc, with the conclusion that literally any take on a pre-existing story is legitimate because of this, and sometimes the further conclusion that all takes are equally valid, and ... nah.

Yes, myths/stories are constantly being re-interpreted etc. This does not mean that all takes on existing source material, even complicated and not-always-consistent source material, are valid, much less equivalent.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks Rio would be absolutely insufferable when he’s sick.

Like, he’ll have something as simple as a cold but it’ll be as if it’s the end of the world. He’ll be grouchy. His brow so furrowed that it seems like it might stay like that forever and, of course, because he’s usually quite calm, he’ll snap a lot and at the most minor things. And even though he feels stupidly hot all the time (to everyone around him), he’ll be even more like a furnace and constantly complain about how it’s so hot as if he’s not constantly abnormally hot anyway. And that over-organised, everything-has-its-place, and everything-has-an-order-to-it side of him will be in constant overdrive. However, because he’s a little light-headed and achy all over and has a runny nose, his overdrive mode is just him getting all worked up, not making much sense to everyone around him, and then getting even more frustrated because shit isn't getting done.

Insufferable, I tell you, he’d be insufferable. I would like to see it though.
