Morning meeting call: For today’s math work you’ll be working on...
WHO UNMUTED.
STAY MUTED UNLESS I CALL ON YOU.
Today.... it happened.... my in class kids and my virtual kids had a full blown argument, and it was the best laugh i've had since school started. During math, I decided to play a game after I taught the concept of the lesson. My kids are VERY competitive. So at first, it was me vs them. I gave them a head start before I started to work the problem. They screamed "unfair" because of course, I was the teacher. (I should have know, it was about to go down when this happened, but I ignored the big ass red flag and continued). So, I switched it up and said it was them vs each other. So I wrote the problem, told them to GO, and they worked on the math problem. Two of my virtual kids finished first and second, and my in class kids went "THEY CHEATED! THEY MOMMA TOLD THEM THE ANSWER"... and i was WEAK. I could not stop laughing. when i tell you, they went back and forth for like 3 minutes. HIGHLIGHT OF THE SCHOOL YEAR SO FAR.
Classroom management 101–Relate to the children. There’s an imposter among us...
on a brighter note.
i took my braids out and wore my hair in a puff today. one of my babies came in class today and had her hair in a puff. my child couldn't take her bookbag off before she said “MS WRIGHT! YOUR HAIR IS LIKE MINE!!!” and this is why i teach black kids on purpose. the smile on her face was everything. i love my littles.
i love my students so much. we bicker all day. and they say “bruh” just as much, if not more, than i do.

Aww thats cute your a teacher ! whats it like ?
what’s it like to be a teacher? hm. this is a complex question. lol. so imma answer how it is as a pandemic teacher. and it is the most EXHAUSTING THING IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW. my school has new school hours this year. i have to be to work for 6:45, so i have to get up at 5 and leave my house by 6. my kids have to eat in the classroom. so i have to be there by the time the bell rings at 6:50. (the plus size of this is that we get out of school at 2).
but managing in class kids AND kids at home is bullshit. because i dont feel like i can discipline my class the way i want to.i feel like i cant tell the kids at home shit about their behavior because thats not my house and i feel like im invading it. i cant tell parents shit for the way they talk to or disclipline their child in their own damn house. im seeing way too much emotional abuse for my liking and i dont know if i should report that or not. i feel like i cant give my kids free time the way i would if they were all in class because i dont want my kids at home to just be sitting idle for too long. because the fucking parents call the damn office for EVERYTHING and report you.
but i LOVE my kids. i just want the, ALL in class with me so that they can have their escape from their homelife and i can just have fun with my kids in class the way i usually do.
its also bullshit that the principal can come in your class virtually without you noticing and observe you. lmao
this school year has been a hot ass mess so damn far and i am end of the school year tired and its only the third week.
teaching virtually and in person at the same time is 3 jobs, i swear to god. because i have to figure out how to get my kids that are at home engaged in the lessons, keep my in person kids at bay, AND deal with parents all fucking day. i am fucking TIDE WITH BLEACH.
