August 1: Romance

Characters: Faith Lehane, Buffy Summers

Rating: PG

Summary: Everyone has a version of romance. An AU drabble of a romantic moment between Faith and Buffy.

A/N: I have not written fanfic in far too long so I challenged myself to do a fic a day in August to get back into the habit. Unbeta’d because who has time to beta me every day. Note that I am an “author chooses not to warn” girl, so read at your own risk.

It’s odd, she thought, what you could find romantic. Turning the blade over and over in her hand, she runs a finger along the sharp, glinting edge. Had she ever dreamed of different gifts? Of roses and diamonds, of perfume or chocolates?

She can’t remember and she finds she doesn’t care. This gift, of strength, of protection, is the most romantic gift she’s ever been given. The scar on her belly throbs with the beat of her heart.

“Thanks, B,” she says, her voice hoarse with an emotion she won’t name. “You know I how much I love a knife.”

hi hello, quick PSA! i’ve had quite a few asks recently asking me when i’m going to update various WIPs. the answer? i don’t know! i’ve stopped holding myself to a schedule because it was making me burn out big time!

all i ask is that you please, please stop coming to my inbox and pressuring me into updating (i no longer answer any asks of this kind). it’s not going to speed things along (if anything, i find it discourages me).

none of my WIPs are abandoned! however, i will only be updating them when and if i feel inspired to do so! unfortunately, this will mean slower updates on all my WIPs from now on. however - the quality of writing and the headspace of the writer (me) will greatly improve (i hope!)
