Before I actually sit down to write something more worthy, here’s a quick about for Trev. Timeline-wise, it’s his general background and quick summary of events leading up to his reunion with Michael in 2013.
CW: mentions of physical and mental abuse, death, drugs, alcohol, substance abuse
Born and raised in Canada, near the border with the US. In a way, he was always a nomad and not always voluntarily. As Trevor himself puts it: “grew up in five states, two countries, fourteen different homes, eight fathers, three care homes, two correctional facilities, one beautiful, damaged flower of a mother.” His father was a raging alcoholic who didn’t hold back from beating him; his mother, on the other hand, was emotionally abusive. Trevor also had a brother, Ryan, with whom he wasn’t getting along too well. Ryan’s death was allegedly an accident.
Ever since he was a kid, he struggled with anger management issues. He would often get into fights for the most trivial reasons. Trevor dropped out of school. It didn’t look like his future would be the brightest, but he discovered his flair for flying. And so he enlisted in the air force. A couple of days before getting his license, the person in charge of psychological evaluations deemed him mentally unstable.
After his discharge, he became a petty criminal. His crimes became more serious when he met Michael Townley, who later became not only his associate but also his best friend.
Fast forward to 2004 — the fateful heist in North Yankton. During their escape, as bad as it was getting for all of them Trevor refused to abandon his friends until fatigued Michael told him to go save himself. For years Trevor believed Michael was dead.
Trevor settled in Sandy Shores, where his crystal meth addiction began. He started a criminal business with Ron, Wade and Chef. Trevor Philips Enterprises specialised in arms smuggling as well as cooking and selling meth.
In 2013 Trevor hears about the robbery of a jewellery store in Los Santos. After Wade’s digging, he finds out there are, in fact, two people named Michael Townley living in Los Santos, but neither of them really fit. However, he stumbles upon a name called Michael De Santa and his old partner’s alias immediately rings a bell. Trevor shows up at the doorstep of Michael’s new house. They kind of bury the hatchet, but Trevor’s grudge never really dies. Then come the shenanigans — Trevor teams up with Michael and Franklin.
His relationship with both of them remains, in a way, strained, but as time goes and Trevor tries to make some sense out of Michael’s choices and also gets to know Franklin better.
