Hey hey! Since it's been a little bit since little nightmares 3 came out...
Thoughts?
Warning: not 100% good opinions below:
Me personally, I think it's.... Kind of mid? Like, "Little Nightmares" is there. It's just like... I LOVE Low and Alone, nothing will stop me from loving Low and Alone. It's just the world they're in, and how the antagonists are all handled leave a lot to be desired in my opinion.
I tried to like it, but every time I like something original from the game, there is just a little smidge of something later on that my brain would immediately cling onto.
For example the costumes??? I personally really disliked the fact that they were of previous monsters from LN1 and LN2. Plus Low's mask kept on clipping through them. And that's just me being petty but still-
And even though the art in it is great, some areas look straight up copy pasted from the first two games? I gettit "dream world" and all that, it just really kinda lacked direction. (Again, in my opinion)
The first two games had a theme, or something bigger that it was building up to, first game you're in a boat/restaurant that kills and cooks children. Second game you go to a town that was taken over by a broadcast station. Now you're kinda going everywhere and anywhere. Again, Dream world, I gettit. Just...
Maybe if everything was more themed around separating Low and Alone, or dreaming, then everything would have felt more cohesive? Like my first thought through the game was something like "What if the desert baby was instead a Sandman-like monster whose whole gimmick is stoning people so they can have an eternal slumber?"
Cause a giant baby on paper is wild, but it's, not malevolent in the slightest. And the ways you escape it are pretty circumstantial. Similar for the other villains, they aren't very threatening for the most part, (Baby and factory lady until she wasn't, and that was for a pretty short period)
And though I liked the circus area, it also didn't feel as threatening.
I really dunno how to close this other than AAAAA I wish I liked it better!
Cause I do like the main concept of Low trying to bring Alone to reality, but reality itself won't let that happen. Just, how they approached it bugged me even though I tried not to let nostalgia for the old games blind me to a new potentially good game-
Maybe I am being petty or blinded by nostalgia when looking at LN3 idk.
