Two types of INFJs
1. Happy little bubble, struggles nevertheless a lot, chaotic, has a big vision but can't handle a tiny task, will remember your birthday and favorite things, smart but won't admit it, shy, but talks a lot when with people, kinda quirky, creative as fuck, has more friends than expected, total therapy friend, gets rude when people say they are mistyped, "oh my god that's so me, I'm INFJ too!"
2. Has their shit and life together but feels chaotic, 7383 alternative plans, seem pretty chill but isn't, sometimes mistaken as INTJs, secretly cry a lot but nobody knows, hates but loves people, keep their romantic thoughts for themselves, knows they are smart but tears up in arguments, can't understand why people argue, will be super empathetic when they have the energy to do so, the one in the group who organizes stuff, when people say they're mistyped they will try to explain calmly but shrug it off when the conversation gets too draining, "*sighs deeply* Yes....I'm INFJ"

The Two Types of People Learning Guitar
Acoustic covered in stickers, personalized picks, practises 30 minutes every day, takes classes with their friends, tik toks of their progress, cottagecore, wants to be in an Indy band, white shirts and overalls, shows off at family gatherings, listens to Maggie Rogers, music aesthetic, can sing
Electric guitar, plays with their raw hands, actively bleeding, "THIS SHIT HURTS LIKE A MOTHERFUCKER", yet still practises for a minimum of 3 hours each day, between 11 pm and 7 am, learning exclusively to play MCR songs, no one knows and will only find out after they have mastered it, acdc and fob, has a Twitter that is exclusively used to bully terfs, black sweatshirts, combat boots, dyed hair, fishnet stockings, coffee and death

Maybe it's just because Shadis is my favorite character but I have to wonder why Isayama has kept him alive this long. He even went so far as to modify a volume release to specify that he wasn't turned into a Titan by Zeke's scream. He appears to be the only remnant of the Paradis military left alive not counting the Scouts. What do you think his role is if any? Something related to Hange and Levi perhaps?
As an experienced former commander he could be valuable considering the chaos on the ground and the vacuum of leadership. He’s a mentor and someone with an established relationship to each of the main characters, as well as any of the surviving forcibly conscripted Jaegerist recruits. There’s also Floch to consider. I guess what I’m saying is like you I believe his survival wasn’t an accident. There is potential there.
At this point in the story I believe Isayama is beyond shock value deaths for his named characters. The deaths that happen now have purpose beyond emphasizing the horrors of war. That would mean Shadis has more to do in the story. But if he gets further development, I don’t think it will be about him trying to prove he’s special or more than a bystander. I think Shadis is beyond the desperate heroics that we saw with Hannes in chapter 50, for instance. It’s more likely his purpose will be as a support to the main cast.
I can’t talk about Shadis without saying that personally I think he was always special. You don’t survive 10 years as survey corps commander if you are ordinary. Much of what we got in chapter 71 was the skewed self-perceptions of a deeply depressed man. Even now as a teacher for the recruits, he’s proven time and again that he’s strong, that he’s selfless, that he’s more than capable. I look forward to seeing what more Isayama will do with that.
Thanks for the ask!
