#i'm complaining again

My mom is usually really strict about electronic use at nighttime so for months i've just been using my school Chromebook when she takes my phone away, and my drawing tablet away, and my 15 dollar digital camera I got from my aunt away, and my Polaroid camera away, and my light bulbs away, and my broken 3ds away.

But then she decided she was really angry at me a week ago and searched through my room and found my school Chromebook hidden behind my bed. She of course didn't know why I had this because she thought the only thing I had access to on the Chromebook was school work and my school email. But then she opened it and found I had a bunch of tabs open, thankfully I only had cookie clicker and a Minecraft arg video open, I think if she found my Tumblr or my discord she would shoot me on sight or smth.

But because she found out I could use my school Chromebook for other things she took that away too. But the think about my mom is that she hides everything in the same place, so I know that if I take my Chromebook right before she leaves the living room to go to bed and then put it back when she leaves for work I know i'll be fine. But right before I closed my door to "go to bed" at 9:30 pm she said "what electronics do you have in your room?" Which I said "uh none" lying of course, she went on this whole rant about how I " better give her whatever I have before she beasts my ass" and how i'm " being so disrespectful"

and a bunch of empty threts later she goes "you know what? I don't even care. I'm going to bed"

SO either my mom grew as a person and realized she was being fucking insane over this whole argument and that giving death threats to your child because they want to watch minecraft videos after 9 pm is a psychotic move (impossible option) or she is just waiting for my dad to get home so she can guilt trip me and have him yell at me by lying to his face about what I did and said (100% whats gonna happen)

I'm so fucking cooked.

I like urban legend alot

But theres something strange to me that duke finding his mom was resolved in a montage in an anthology feels weird to me

Maybe its because i admittedly dont read alot of duke (thats one of the reasons i picked up uban legend) but i wanted to ask you cuz you seem to know alot about the signal

YOU'RE SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE. I think Brandon Thomas tries his utmost to make it work but the fact is that Duke finding his mom + her healing should NEVER. NEVER EVER have occured in an anthology series, particularly when he doesn't even get the entire issue!!! Like here are just a few of the problems with the story:

Why on earth was it that easy to heal her? If it was this easy, surely Bruce & Duke would've done this when they had Elaine & Doug at Wayne Manor???

A lot of what they say in the Urban Legends story doesn't jibe with the set-up in Batman: Secret Files. There is a huge hole in wall in Secret Files, but in Urban Legends Bruce says "We were meant to believe their infection explains their absence." So we (and Duke) were supposed to believe Elaine blasted a hole in the wall with her Joker powers or something??? 😭😭😭😭

Also Duke implies that he thought Elaine was dead, or that he was supposed to believe she was dead. Which again like. WHAT about the hole in the wall implied that?????

This is the beginning of the end for Doug Thomas... where is he. where did he go. WHERE DID HE GOOOOO

This is not a problem with the logistics but about the decision itself. Elaine & Doug being Jokerised is a core part of Duke's backstory and one of his key motivations. And they just decide to get rid of it, when we've truthfully barely explored it? To me this is kind of like if David Cain died in the first ten issues of Batgirl (2000)!!! What the hell!!!

Idk like to me this is the CLEAREST example of how little DC cares about Duke's character & story. I am kind of grateful I guess that we even got a resolution after Secret Files, but when the execution is this poor idk... and there's the fact that no Duke story after this (and that panel in Matt Fraction's Batman does NOT count) actually follows up either. It just feels so horribly half-hearted!!! Idk I think Duke & Brandon Thomas + Tony Patrick tbh deserved better than this.

I have to go out and do things today and I'm kind of tired and burnt out from yesterday.

I'm starting to feel the pressure of having to be someone to rely on. It's silly and honestly not even that big of a commitment and it's only this next next week. But this party my cousin is throwing for her baby... I told her I'd help with a lot and now I'm just like...

I told her either today or tomorrow I'd come up and we'd do a test cake of the vegan smash cake. Yesterday we made the plans for it to be today but now I'm wishing I said tomorrow. But she's having a bad day so I can't cancel on todays plans and once I get through today I can just have tomorrow to myself.

I just want this next week to hurry up and be done with. Especially since it's like the last thing from all these holidays and important things I need to be around for. It's like too much commitment and pressure to hold myself together.

I can already feel how irritated I am right now. I need to shower and maybe a coffee from Mary Lou's will put me in a good mood. And I'll be driving up to her house alone so I won't have to deal with my Nana complaining about the same people over and over again in the car ride up (yesterday, to and from)..

There's stupid, trivial things that'll put me in a good mood and I hate how easily my mood is affected by that.

This may appeal only to a very small demographic but I've heard so much from people who call themselves "Christians" about how queer people are "sick" or "mentally ill" "but that doesn't make it okay. Think about it, kleptos and murderers are sick too" but from that very same crowd, when Kanye spreads hateful, nazi bullshit its almost always "He's mentally ill. What he's saying may sound antisemitic, but he's really just sick and needs help."

Why do some people think the only people think that the only people who deserve love/acceptance are people who agree with them?
