To see you dripping in gems and gold, your body covered in fine silks and high-end clothing, it made him feel so manly, being able to provide for his spouse in a way no one else could
You always reassured him that you loved him for him, not for material things, and he in turn reassured you that he knew that, he simply wanted his darling to have nice things
The living room would be filled with roses by the time you woke up, the coffee table buried under a pile of gifts, and your darling husband in the kitchen, wearing an apron, preparing a big breakfast. He gave the cook the day off; he'd put the skills his nonna taught him to good use
You gushed over the lavish display, kissing away at his face, thankful for everything Giovanni gave you. But, he knew exactly what you wanted more than anything else: His time
"I cleared out my schedule today, amore. Whatever you desire, we will do it. Shopping? Museums? A massage, perhaps? Say the word, and it'll be yours." He hugged you close to him, gazing into your eyes, just as fondly as the day you were married
"There's really only one thing I want," you said, burying your face in his chest, "Won't you soak in the hot tub with me? I want to spend time with you alone."
"That can certainly be arranged." Giovanni grinned into your hair, pressing you closer to him. "But first, why don't you open your presents, hm?"
Maxie
Gifts you a weekend at the hot springs
You always loved bathing in the water, and Arceus knows Maxie needs the ralaxation, so it's a win-win
As you were soaking in the spring, slowly boiling away, you were sipping at the green tea one of the attendants brought you, sighing dreamily
"I could stay here forever", you said, putting your head back on your husband's shoulder, "Do you think Camerupt can boil water like this? Would certainly save us money."
Maxie's arm snaked around your waist under the water, pulling you closer to him. "I believe if we put water anywhere near Camerupt, we will have a repeat of the beach incident."
His lips found your shoulder, placing a peck on the skin there. "The bathtub will have to do, then." You sighed again, nuzzling closer to you husband
"How would you feel about one of those fancy bathtubs with jet streams and such? We might get you your luxury yet", Maxie mumbled into your shoulder, closing his eyes, "Or we could invest in property around here. Has the bonus of being close to the hideout."
You were never so thankful for the stuffy, way too hot hideout in the volcano
Archie
I just know he wants to do some adventure type activity
Kayaking, rock climbing, Arceus forbid even sky diving, he considered everything, to the point he couldn't decide
Thankfully, he had the good sense to ask Shelly and Matt for help, and while Matt was all for it, Shelly ripped him a new one when he told her his ideas
Which was lucky for you, because Matt and him settled on cave diving
So, Shelly helped the man book a table at a seaside restaurant, with a beautiful view of the sunset. She also made him promise to run any potential gifts by her first. She had concerns now
The evening turned out wonderful; the food was phenomenal, as was the view. Not to mention Archie, who was great company as always
"Wanna go for a walk, or are ya shooting for more dessert?" Your husband told you you could order as much cake as you wanted, but after the huge plate of seafood you could only fit a single one befor you were completely stuffed
Slinking down the beach together, you got to admire the waning light glittering over the waves, with the occasional pokemon poking their heads through the water's surface
Archie suddenly came to a stand, and you looked at his expectantly, wondering why he stopped. "I actually have another surprise for you."
He pulled out an envelope, handing it to you, clearly nervous. "I had to get everythin' approved by Shelly. She hated my other ideas, but this one's got through the judges." He laughed, big and boisterous, his shoulders shaking
Warily, you opened the envelope. You trusted Shelly's judgement, but you also knew your man. What greeted you was a gift card for-
"Swimming with Finizen?", you asked, almost incredulous that he picked something so nice
"My vote was on mountainbiking through Twist Mountain in Unova, but you know. Splashing around with you is a close second."

Forgets about it and panics
Sends Charon of all people to get you a present. Unfortunately for him, Charon is a man (derogatory) and has no idea what to buy for a romantic partner's birthday
Jewelry seemed tacky, cake has too many variables, and Cyrus would kill him if he showed up with lingerie – In the end, he settled on the one thing he knew about you for sure
Meanwhile, Cyrus scrambled to get a dinner reservation for tonight, at this point any restaurant would do as long as he had something
Thankfully, he found a Paldean restaurant that wasn't already fully booked (did you have to have your birthday on a friday?? Ugh) and shot you a text to meet him there after work
You were honestly a bit pissed that he hadn't bothered to call you all day, but you met him at the restaurant regardless, hoing beyond hope for a good explanation
As you were waiting for your appetizers, you finally shot him a look, urging him to justify himself
"Look, I had a lot of work this week. I'm... sorry." He said the word like it physically hurt him, clearly not used to apologizing. "Maybe this would make you forgive me?"
Taking the envelope from his hands, you stared at it suspiciously. Arceus above if there's only a card in there you would flip out
You opened the envelope, to see... A card. Imminent crashout evident on your face, Cyrus made a mental note to rip Charon a new one later
You opened the (admittedly cute) card, and found- A bookmark?
"Cyrus, you didn't!!!", you squealed, taking the piece of cardboard out and examining it under the restaurant's dim lights. "That's the limited edition bookmark for my favourite series! I thought you weren't even listening when I told you about it."
He wasn't. But he was relieved that he managed to dodge your wrath today

Has a list on his phone he updates throughout the year every time you mention something you want
Tactically only gets you one of the things from the list per occassion (birthdays, anniversaries, christmas etc) so he always has a gift idea
He also has an Exel document where he analyses your reaction vs the price vs the use time. The scientific aproach is best, after all
Do not expect a romantic dinner or a getaway or anything. Should you ask for one, ou will be taken to a factory or a laboratory for a tour, and eat dinner in their cafeteria
So, this year, you told Colress in no uncertain terms that you expect a fancy dinner once you come home from work
And when you walked through the door, you were greeted by the soft light of candles, and your boyfriend in his best dress shirt. He even ditched the labcoat

You wake up next to a bag instead of your husband
"7pm, wear this. L" was all the note read, and you were giddy at what you found inside: A beautiful red ensemble, perfectly tailored to you and accentuating all your best assets. Lysandre truly knew your style, and it was obvious he wanted to match with you tonight, hence the red. You wondered what he had in store for you later
At 7pm sharp, a key turned in the lock of your front door, having you scurry to greet your man. You always launched yourself into his arms the second he got home, and today was no different, expensive outfit be damned
"Mon coeur," he said, peppering kisses all over your face, "You look transcendent. Exactly as I imagined, and yet so much more beautiful." He took your hand to spin you around, drinking in your form in the clothes he had tailored for you
The evening was wonderful. Lysandre took you to the theatre, with seats on a private balcony, of course. Not that you needed multiple, as you were practically sitting on his lap the whole time, cuddled so close to him all he could smell was your perfume
Dinner was at Restaurant Le Wow, your favourite dish already on the table when you came in. The dessert had "Happy Birthday" written on the side of the plate in chocolate. Champagne was flowing, and by the time the two of you made your way back home, you were pleasently tipsy, clinging onto your husband's arm
After Lysandre locked the door to your penthouse behind him, he took you by the waist, holding your body close to his

Which was when you felt two hands on your hips, turning you around to face your boyfriend. Before he could speak, you took the opportunity of his open mouth to feed him a forkfull of cake
"Ou wook thexy donight", he said with his mouth full, grinning. He was never the gentlemanly type who cared much about manners, but that was part of his charm
He swallowed, locking his hands behind the small of your back, swaying to the music. "Wanna go grab a smoke?" Weed or tobacco, it didn't matter, you could really use a minute away from the crowd
Following him up into his room, Guzma closed the door behind you before rummaging around under his bed. Did he hide his weed from the grunts? Surely no one is dumb enough to steal from the big bad boss
He emerged, hiding his hands beind his back, grinning like a Meowth. "Close your eyes, baby", he said, obvious excitement on his face
So, you closed your eyes, holding out your open hands, waiting patiently, hoping desperately it wasn't a bug
He grabbed your hand, and you feared for your life (or rather that he'd put a bug in it), when suddenly you felt something on your finger
You opened your eyes immediately, shocked that he'd actually give you a ring. "It's a promise ring", he explained, smiling down at your hand, "Not an engagement ring. I need to work on myself and my reputation before all that. Be a man worthy of you and shit..."
"'Til then, why don't I show you just how serious I am?" He grabbed your waist again, throwing you on his bed, with you giggling and pulling him with you

Mans the grill all evening, debating his brother over the best way to grill a burger
Insisted on baking the cake himself instead of ordering one. Produced a charred brick and called Peony in a panic at 9pm. Nia saved the day with a no-bake lotus cheesecake recipe she found on TikTok
Lethal amount of kisses throughout the day. Wants you to know you're loved an appreciated
He's a classic guy, so his gift to you would be a nice necklace
"May I put it on for you, love?" You nodded, and he gently turned you around by the shoulders, freeing your neck from hair and clothing after to secure the necklace on you
Fastening the latch, Rose turned you back around, adjusting your collar and hair, his hand lingering on your cheek
"As beautiful as I imagined it", he said, taking in your appearance
"You know you don't need to gift me expensive stuff, right?", you said, putting your own hand on the one on your cheek

You woke up late, dressing in a panic and wondering why Volo didn't wake you
Halfway on your way out, you grabbed your satchel, but noticed your partner's pokeball missing.
You tunre the whole house upside down, just about ready to freak out, until the door slid open and Volo stepped in, your partner in tow, who was holding a rather flat package
He lloked around the room, amused at the mess. "My, couldn't wait to see us again, hm?" He set down a loaf of warm bread, still steaming as if fresh out of the oven. You wanted to beat him over the head with it. "Lucky for you, I intend to spend the whole day by your side."
Coming up to you, Volo put his arms around you, about to plant a kiss on your face, when you put a hand up to block him from landing the smooch
"Wanna tell me why you kidnapped my partner first? Or maybe why you didn't wake me up?! I'm super late to work!" You half-heartedly swatted at his chest, still a little annoyed but more confused than anything
"Work? My dear, you have the day off, remember?" Volo let go of you, turning to your partner and taking the package from them before handing it to you, his signature smile stretched across his face. "A wonderful birthday to you, my love."
Oh– right, that was today, wasn't it? With all the survey work and... incidents, you completely forgot to check the calendar. Now curious, you opened the present to find–
"Oh my gosh, Volo...!", you squealed, throwing your arms around his neck, finally giving him the kiss he tried before

The work titled "The First of Many", is the final piece for my secondary school journey! (I graduated on the 24th)
Depicting the Madrigals post-film, reconnecting over breakfast! Hence, the first of many! With heavy composition influence from Leonardo da Vinci's mural "The Last Supper".
It's a 3D/layered piece, with pieces of thick folded paper between layers to build depth! :D
This work is the final result of a 35+ page folio that started around May. I'll post some of the pages at some point or another. It's been a very time-consuming process (and part of the reason why I haven't posted much Carbela!)
However, since I've graduated and with only one exam (on the 3rd of November, three days before my birthday) I'll finally have time for Carbela antics!
So, I just wanted to say thank you to the Encanto fandom and the Carbela nation! As I wouldn't have gotten this far without all of you. (no pun intended)
Like in the last supper, I really wanted to capture those little moments between individuals where you can see how they interact- their relationship dynamics and how they work!
It's supposed to be a snippet of the families life behind the scenes, what they're like the other 363 days of the year when they aren't stressing about a gift ceremony going well or a proposal!
