Look at this little baby!
Spring Break
I'm writing this is a little cafe tucked tidily away in a tower that no one really know about. Over the last few hours, the air of lazy excitement has been palpable on campus - it's spring break and whether it's florida, boston or that place, home, people are ready to take off and leave their lives here behind a while. I've seen it in the tired, haggard young faces around campus recently - we're all tired. After all, you can only pretend so long that you're balancing midterms, coffee dates, late night homework and social life perfectly well and the facade is slipping.
And it was really a beautiful day to end the first half of this semester. It was perfectly cloudless - the kind of blue you can look up and drown in if you aren't careful. The sun was kind enough to trick you into not taking that extra jacket if you weren't observant. Luckily I'm neither careful nor observant so for a few hours I really got to enjoy the weather. The one thing about bi-polar weather is that you appreciate the good days so much more!
I for one am so, so ready for this break. Even though there have been wonderful days, in general I think the last few weeks have been filled with too much drama, stress and revelations and even if I get enough sleep, I'm soul-weary right now. Things I have realized about myself or others recently include:
- That I actually suck horribly at time management but if I pull myself together... I don't have to.
- That even though we were strangers, he could still somehow break my heart.
- That 4am nights are becoming a thing of the past.
- That I'm searching for something I've already found.
- That believing in myself is the first step to doing it.
- That being well-liked and being well-respected are entirely different things
- That I quite like keeping my shirt on.
- That it really was a short-term solution to a long-term problem
- That Justin Bieber is horribly, disgustingly attractive.
There's a story about all of things and maybe one day I'll even dare to tell them. I think it's nice to have a record for the things I learn here - it goes so much deeper than academics. (Although in my drama class today our teacher asked for volunteers to do a kissing scene - LOL yeah no). It's me learning truths about myself, and sometimes it's ugly and sometimes it's beautiful.
But anyway. To any Americans, have a wonderful spring break filled with warmth, family and sleep. And to all Australians ... well it's starting again isn't it?
Isn't that exciting?
I am learning how to not get so angry so fast.
Dear leaders, if u want your ministry to reach unbelievers, u must make a strong commitment to bring evangelism to ur ministry. I don’t think we should be training youths to rely on fancy programs to fulfill the purpose of evangelism. Our churches are minutes away to Malls and lots of other entertainment activities, and we don’t have the resources to create programs attractive enough to compete with the world. What we do have is a life-changing content (the truth of God’s Word) and caring relationships with which the world can’t compete. Evangelism isn’t a program; it’s a process- a process of a person modeling his or her transformed life to someone in need of God’s transformational grace.
