The Football Writers’ Festival advises with regret that Hope Solo is no longer able to travel to the Festival due to health-related reasons.

​Solo’s absence does not detract from the program for the Festival which includes a who’s who of Australian football journalism and writing, as well as special guest Jens Weinreich from Germany, an award-winning investigative journalist, FFA Chairman, Chris Nikou and former Socceroo, broadcaster, author and now human rights campaigner, Craig Foster.

Solo said that she is sorry she is unable to attend.

“I was very much looking forward to visiting Australia and supporting the football community. I sincerely regret that I am unable to travel at this time.“

“I wish everyone involved in the Football Writers’ Festival all the best for a successful event and I look forward to visiting in the future.”

Festival organisers said they are looking at options for Solo’s participation via video link.
